    Good morning™, everyone!

I still like the “Two-way Wrist Thingamajig”! It’s a miniature “magic lantern” similar to this one (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_lantern):

well, I had my visit today with my neurologist concerning my multiple discs situation… the whole meeting took about 30-45 minutes with us discussing the entire matter… four years ago, I had spinal surgery done where two rods were placed along with some screws… above and below the screws were the discs that were giving me trouble recently… evidently the discs have shrunk and the only thing that I seem to have is a bit of stenosis above and below where the screws are… long story short, he stated that surgery will not be a thing for me, physical therapy will also not be a thing for me, pain management will not be a thing for me and no epidural or any sort of pain meds will be needed by me… he stated that after a gradual increase of the sciatica and the discs issue over the last five months, my body seems to be slowly mending itself, as evidenced by the past two weeks of substantially subsiding agony… the pain at this moment is gone with only traces on occasional tingling and weakness in my right leg and some VERY mild tenderness in my butt cheek… in his words, it took five months to build up to the agony I endured but now it’s only been two weeks where it’s all disappearing and my body needs more time to get itself back to where it was before this all became an issue… so patient, heal thyself and in time you’ll be fine… so a bit of walking a bit more to strengthen my leg up is in order and the timing is perfect, as the weather is getting better and I will be able to get out more to do some strolling… and if the pain should feel like it’s returning, I’m to give him a call and we’ll take it from there… but for now, he’s giving me 6-8 weeks to see what, if anything, might develop… and that’s it… so it’s a good day, better than what I expected… maybe I’ve finally gotten over this speed bump that my physicals had put in my way… and that is all, folks…

Fleegle’s weak spot was that he could not use his evil eye to whammy someone if he was happy. I remember a Holiday story where Santa tricked Fleegle into helping some less fortunate people. When Fleegle realized he had been duped, he attempted to whammy Santa, but helping the less fortunate made Fleegle happy (and unable to whammy), at which Santa commented that was Fleegle’s promised Christmas present and left.

Back again for more comparisons with the 2016 release. Once again a link for quick reference:

    https://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2016/06/28

The colorist from 2016 seemed to have interpreted this discussion taking place during the day and today’s colorist is placing them talking at night. The backgrounds are literally day and night here. I know it’s a projection, but Fleegle looks like he’s the undead here, he’s so blue.

No comma changes, but the hyphen was removed from “EVIL-DOER” in P1. I don’t think it matters a whole lot. Both “evildoer” and “evil-doer” are in common usage, though “evil-doer” is slightly less common.

This dream sequence harks back to Al Capp’s “Lil’ Abner” strips of my childhood. I recall Capp’s zany character gallery including Fosdick and “Evil Eye Fleegle” (“Influence” send~up) . I wonder if Fosdick will drop by for a steak at his long~suffering girlfriend’s digs Whatever happened to “Henry”, “Joe Palooka”, “Smilin’ Jack”, “Steve Canyon”, “Terry & the Pirates”, “Flash Gordon”, Prince Valiant" and other classic strips of that era??

Even in the depths of the chicken story, I looked forward to reading each day’s comic just to see if Mike could somehow make it interesting. I don’t bother to read this nonsense – it’s straight to the Comments which never disappoint (if I’m selective enough they don’t).

So, since the only one that could stop Evil-Eye Fleegle was Mammy Yokum, is she going to make an appearance?

LITTLE OrpHAN ANNIE hints for next year

1.)With a little makeup,Punjab and Haku Kou(the big Hawaiian) can easy disguise themselves as each other.

2.)Harold Gray FLOP CHARACTER was “Funjab”,supposedly Punjab’s underage nephew who wasfond of elaborate practical jokes.

He was to the strip what Scrappy-Doo was to SCOOBY DOO!

It is refreshing to read the comments today. Mr. Strike, I hope and pray that you come through your ordeals. Plus, my mind will be diverted for a while from this current story in the strip. @ Chester Gould, peace be upon him and this song. " Look what they’ve done to my strip, look what they’ve done to my strip, well it’s the only thing that I do with pride and it’s turning out all wrong, look what they’ve done to my strip".

Evil Eye Fleegle was a great satirical villain, kind of a Zoot Suit swaggering little demon, Fosdick’s nemesis. This sets up conflict for this mini-arc, while Tracy backs up his dreamtime hero….
