Not for one second did I think she assumed he was dead. They have been together forever. I think she went to cover him up for comfort and just got silly and covered his face. Surely since he won’t take anything to relieve his symptoms, while he is prone in a recliner she can hear his breathing all over the house. This comic is to make us laugh, and I don’t understand why so many people see evil in a loving wife. Earl isn’t always the best, either. imagine him waiting on Opal if she got sick.

Opal don’t rush things. Husbands die before their wives because WE WANT TO!. Let Earl do so in his own good time.
