Not sure what the anniversary is, but I grew up with these comics back in the ‘90s when I was a kid. Whatever the 34 years is about, it’s well deserved!
wow. this “new” strip i follow. when did this happen?? i had just transferred to my final duty station before retirement— just before desert storm/OIF.
So Sunny 30, Mortimer 8, the Twins 18, is that it? JS for JumpStart 34 years. Any other hidden messages? But I find it hard to believe that the strip was 4 years without Sunny. I have the backstory of how Joe and Marcy met in high school, but I thought that was a flashback after the strip was released.
Congratulations, Mr. Armstrong! Yours is in my top five favorite strips and is actually in the second position on my reading list. I truly enjoy your cast of characters. Keep up the good work, sir!
Without readers, there is no “ JumpStart “.Thank you for investing your time in my work year after year. I have a ton of characters revolving in and out, and you’ve given each of them a chance. I really appreciate that!I thank you all, and love you for reading “ JumpStart “!
Happy Anniversary, & thank you for this wonderful comic strip. I started reading it in it’s earliest days, then moved to an area where it wasn’t distributed just after Sunny was born. When I finally found it again, there were four kids! Thank goodness for the Internet & Gocomics now.
The Dallas Morning News used to carry this strip but dropped it many years ago. I hunted it down on GoComics and have loved reading it ever since. Thank you for such a good strip!
Robb, you are a keen observer of human nature in all our realness, quirks, goofiness, et al, otherwise your strip would never have lasted this long. I still like Marcy’s first hair, not straightened. Been reading you for whenever the Patriot News had picked you up. Keep it up for as long you are able.
I remember Joe and Marcy back when they were in an apartment, with that irascible little old lady neighbor. I always wondered whatever happened to her.
Hate to burst a bubble—-but I believe the Waldorf-Astoria has been shuttered for a t least three years.
A Chinese firm bought it with the intention of making it half-residential—-and promptly went bankrupt.
Joe’s folks might enjoy having the whole hotel to themselves—-until they realize there’s no bellhops or food service. And then Jack Nicholson shows up….
Thank you for bringing the wonderful Cobb family to our family.
My grandfather was a photo engraver at the NY Herald. He did the plates for the comics (and worked overnight), so comic strips have always been a big part of my life.

Happy Anniersary, Robb! Thanks for the stories and the jokes! Although I am not sure if Joe’s Mom driving constitutes a joke or a horror story…

I was still living in Philly at the time, so I got to follow almost from the beginning – or at least whenever the Inquirer picked it up! <3
