Sounds like they’re the type to steal things not for their own personal gain, but simply to inconvenience people. Which somehow, seems like the less despicable of the two options.

Two weeks today and it will be Halloween. This seems to be the beginning of a Halloween story arc.

No, she came this way. But yah, Evil is relative.

“But what kind of evil thing are you?”. Instead of talking about evil frogs, Phoebe should have asked whether they were imps. That seems most likely but it’s also possible they may turn out to be gremlins. I don’t think we’ve seen any gremlins in this strip.

I think they want to be evil without having to work at it.

Evil is as evil does, and so far, they’ve done nothing.

Didn’t Phoebe’s parents teach her not to talk to evil strangers?

Hope this story arc is not veering into the “Despicable Me” idiocy.

There is such a thing as evil. But those who are truly devoted to it almost never think of themselves as such. The worst evils of all time were committed by people who thought they were doing good.

In the comic world, the goblins etc. all have to turn out to be good in their own way. Otherwise. the strip is not suitable for children. But don’t children also deserve to know that there is real evil, and that they need to be wary of it?

This strip comes closest to it by showing how obsessions, like Marigolds overweening self-absorption, can have consequences. That is why I keep reading it and have bought some of the books etc. To really get it, hit the double-left arrow to go back to the very first panels. The “creation story” if you will.

As “We are evil” seems to be their motto, we could call them “we-evils”.

If you’re both really so evil, then you probably won’t mind if we dropkick you outta here, right?

These look like the evil that drives slow in the fast lane.

Oh lord, I can just see the Evil, Inc. giving all the little evil dudes a motivational speech before sending them out. “Now go out and do EVIL! NO! Go out and BE EVIL.”

Evil, more than just an abstract concept or a way of life.

When I first saw them I was thinking Totoro.

So I think they are little evil Totoros or Pokemon

They are little dark lumps of adorably evil cuteness.

They’re ADORABLE evil, that’s what they are.

That would be a problem.
