I remember one of my 7th grade students saying, “I hate winter. My parents let me play outside until the street lights come on. In the summer, that’s 9:00, but in the winter, it’s 5:30.” Such is life.
I hate switching time more every year! I’d have thought this do-nothing congress would have welcomed the chance to make a change that most of the country wants and nobody would have to give up any concessions.
Love clocks back! Makes the noisy neighbors go back inside and the dinnertime leaf blowers are silenced. Being a morning person, the sun up earlier makes me happy.
Before I could read, I could look at the position of the sun and know Disney’s Musketeers were about to come on TV. Daylight Savings time probably would have confused me, though.
A very good friend of mine recently passed from pancreatic cancer. He was given 6 months to live. Even with surgery, radiation and chemo he made it 5 months. For people who loved him those months were here and gone in moments. For him: the pain, the sickness, the loss of physical abilities made time a cruel task master. Time may be an illusion per Einstein but, per Einstein, it is also relative.
Here is something which I really do not understand. The front of our house faces east (and of course the rear faces west).
I will look our front window EARLY in the morning (before falling asleep) and it will be dark outside – no sign of sun, only the street lights. I will go for that last trip to the bathroom at the rear of the house. I will see the sunlight starting the day in the west?

Judging from what my body feels likes at — years old, time is not an illusion.
CLOCK time is a fake construct, though.

I’d like to see DST all year. It’s nice to be able to walk across the parking lot after work when it’s still light outside.

I went through and changed all the clocks on Saturday. Then there was a power outage this morning and I get to do it all again.
