I don’t think I’ve ever been to a New Year’s Eve party. I watched the ball drop once or twice and then gave up on that. If that’s your thing, then enjoy it. I’ll be asleep.

I think that “watching the ball drop” is one of the most asinine things Americans do!

I grew up in northern Idaho just five miles west of the Montana line, where it was an hour later. There was a tavern at the border on the MT side, so it was possible to celebrate there for a half hour, run back into ID to the Moyie Club ten miles distant and do it all over again.

I’ll watch the new year come in in England, make a champagne toast and go to bed early.

I just saw in my local paper that this comic panel is no more. Sad. I enjoyed it.

I guess the person doing the repeats of this strip have taken extra New Year days off…..

It’s possible the reruns filled in the span from retirement to the end of the year. I will have to the same thing here as I do with another strip published weekly, hit the “Random” button.

Other strips have “retired” but GoComics still recirculates the old as new, for example Get Fuzzy and Herman.

This comic isn’t the only one not updating since the last day of 2023, and it isn’t the first time this strip has been “stalled”. Probably due to someone not renewing the contact on time. If GoComics was planning to drop this strip, past observances are they would be pretty quick to delete it totally. I’m confident it will be back.

Supposedly this comic had started over in October sometime and I thought I’d get to read it from the beginning since I was relatively new to it. But now it’s not updating again. Maybe this time it really is bye bye. I wish there was a definite answer. There are others that have not updated in months, why don’t they just remove it from the site like they did Stone Soup and Garfield Classics? Makes it easier to know it’s not coming back.

Writer Lance Aldrich has just celebrated his 78th birthday, so he has earned his retirement from the daily grind. Close to Home will replace Real Life Adventures

I suppose we’ll know it’s the last one to be shown when gocomics removes it permanently.

Real Life Adventures, a nationally syndicated daily comic strip created by Lance Aldrich and Gary Wise, is officially ending on November 17, 2023.012 The comic’s creators, former advertising executives from Southfield, Michigan, retired in the fall of 2023.2 The daily panels of Real Life Adventures have been in rerun status since October 16, 2023.02 The replacement for Real Life Adventures will be Close to Home, a one-a-day gag created by John McPherson in 1992.0 The Daily Cartoonist reports that the strip’s finale will be published on November 17, 2023.01

As there are no more comics published I’ve been hitting the Random Button. Landed on several comics from the early 2000’s without any comments. I’ve left comments on those with the date I landed there

It’s been a full month, so I am deleting “Real Life Adventures” from my favorites. It’s been a good run.
