Even back at the Choate Club in her usual spot, where she ought to relax, Libris seems stressed out, the way her hand shakes as she strangles her napkin.
Looks like what she is is falling apart. Is she afraid of that lengthening long arm of the law or has she realized her whole existence of finery and of having the best of everything really doesn’t matter in the great scheme and now sees her lifestyle for the sham that it always has been ? That and she’d better leave town while she can.
Why did the waiter (Lee undercover?) put the plate down in the middle of the table rather than between the knife and fork? Also, if the fork is really on the right, could that mean she’s left handed?
That C in front of the Choate Club looks like the one on the suspect’s case! I believe it was suggested in yesterday’s comments that the C might be for Choate.
Well, the last two days have pretty much eliminated any chance of the murderer being anyone besides Xaviera Libris. I hope the explanation of the “why” is good…
…tonight was her “feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty” night……so the filet mignion went to some homeless folks she passed coming in……..she’ll “sacrifice” by dining on Salisbury steak and Thunderbird wine…..hey: why’s she doin’ that with the bag?
2-…I’m sorry. It appears that I’ve made you sad. (hee hee! Take that you rich witch, lousy tipper) Enjoy your food while I clear the other place settings. We all know they won’t be necessary.
The waiter grins at the rest of the wait staff as he walks away from X
3-X: I DON’T NEED COMPANY! I’VE GOT MY FRIEND – MR. TABLE LINEN! MR. TABLE LINEN: GURRRCHHH! TAKE IT EASY YOU OLD BAG! I CAN’T BREATHE! X: YOU CAN’T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT! CHOKE STAB CHOKE!
WAITER! GET MR. NAPKIN OUT HERE! Errr, I mean, I need a napkin…
The Ice Queen dines, as so often, at “the club”; i.e., the downtown Choate School Club, at her usual table. The waiter, familiar with her preferences, pours a nice red wine (cabernet sauvignon?) to accompany her dinner (or is this luncheon?), which I cannot identify with certainty (though I think it is probably not a salisbury steak, as quipped above by some in the Commentariat). She clutches her napkin in her right hand in a tremulous stranglehold suggestive of great stress. Being an icy serial killer/collector is not easy while maintaining a High Society façade and being aware that the Police are asking questions….
Xaviera Libris could be headed for a “nervous breakdown”; a psychotic episode brought on by anxiety, depression, and/or other stressors….
She knows she made a mistake killing the man from the book bindery; it broke the pattern of her crimes and establishes a direct link between her and the shop. If only Tracy had followed up the murder by talking to the shop’s owner.

Still with the silent panels that Eric wants to convince us are in the category of action.
They’re not!
This story is just a never ending soap opera.

Usually, a trip to the gym enables one to unwind. However, Ms. Libris always seems to have something on her mind.

She’s paranoid now, paranoia may destroy ya, as the saying goes!

I guess Libris is starting to learn her limitations.

Sam is there as her sommelier. That napkin she squeezed will have a lot of skin cells suitable for DNA analysis.
