I get all my scientific facts and up to the minute news on social media

The main reason science is so stuck these days: anonymous peer review. I say cast it aside! Make peer review open and publicly accessible, then these “reviewers” will have to explain themselves when they reject some new evidence.

Make reviewers accountable.

Yes, on the internet everyone is an expert.

Nopes. It means means you must blindly beliefs without questioning the scientists who is has clout or else you gets slienced and ostracised for blasphemy.

I knew Facebook was, like, really old, but I didn’t know it already existed in BC.

How is it “substantially evidenced” and “reliably tested”, if it’s only a theory?

Science is not a religion, people. And any serious scientist would tell you that.

I remember a time when, “It must be true; I saw it on the internet.” was a joke.

And your uncle never scored higher than a C+ in science, and always complained to his friends how stupid a class it was. But now he’s in an expert.

Theory: A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.

Scientific theory is validated by those that pay the scientists to deliver data that supports their chosen narrative…..Climate change comes to mind.

Recent years have shown that 90% of “science” can’t be replicated. In other words, the vast majority of “science” is completely unscientific.

Social media gave every idiot in the world a megaphone. This will remembered as either the Age of Unenlightenment or The Dark Ages 2.0, if anybody survives to do the remembering.

And/or by anything written thousands of years ago in the Bible or Torah which is by definition absolutely correct no matter how ridiculous e.g., the Earth is 6000 years old.

It can be contested but not disproven by such means.

Anything can be disproved by a thoughtless relative who laughs out loud at your revelation. The first laugh invites more and not a little bit of mockery. For those who struggle to come out of safe hiding, this is not easy. They say the spoils go to the bold or something like that but Jesus said “Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the Earth.” So don’t let them see your tears and stay the course.
