Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
My daughter has a stuffed puppy that she values almost as much as Calvin does Hobbes. If I could only save one thing from my house in a fire, you can bet Iâm ignoring the high value electronics, cash, and firearms and Iâm saving that puppy. It cannot be replaced.
Watching a British show called The Repair Shop. A woman brings in a dilapidated doll that she lost 63 years previously in the war. It was found and returned to her and she wanted it fixed. They did an excellent job and she was very emotional over it. Great show.
My bears Ted, Ed and Ned have been with me/us since 1994. Ted used to ride shot gun at all times, but he is the back seat driver now and Ed and Ned are in the bookcase headboard.
I really wish that Mr. Watterson would start penning the comic strip again!!
When I was a kid, I was always puzzled by reports of burglars stealing silverware. âWhy?â, I wondered. âItâs not particularly valuable. You can get a complete set of it at any Sears or JCPenneyâs. And itâs bulky and hard to carry.â Eventually somebody explained to me that what I was thinking of was ordinary tableware, made of base metals, not the fancy-schmancy actual silverware that posh folx used. But when youâre a kid you donât think of how the language has evolved, only of actual things youâve seen yourself.
They are important! I have a moose thatâs been with me thru chemo & stem cell transplantation & all my latest hospitalizations and a small hand size one that goes with me to the dentist & Iâm 70
If we go back to the 6th, the 4th panel shows Hobbsâs tail hanging over the edge of the unmade bed (presumably Calvinâs unmade bed). Heâs under the covers and probably unnoticeable by anyone not actually looking for him
Nothing; not vegetarian meals, going to school, getting in trouble, taking swimming lessons, not even going camping can make Calvin more sad than losing Hobbes.
in the movie âA night to rememberâ one woman takes her âluckyâtoy pig and leaves behind a box of jewels. often âvalueâ has little to do with a price tag. by that scale. to a little boy, Hobbs is priceless
Children can be extremely attached to their dolls. In Family Affair, Buffy was extremely attached to Mrs. Beasley, because it was the last gift she received before her parents dies. In Aliens, Newt is attached to her doll as a source of comfort in facing the horrors of the aliens. She knew it was a piece of plastic. Calvin has no friends (his occasional encounters with Susie notwithstanding), and itâs an enormous source of comfort to him to imagine that his doll is a living friend.
I had a mild panic this morning. My wallet wasnât in my shorts. But,before I go full Donald Duck, I checked the likely possibility. There it was, downstairs, next to the toilet. The shorts are relaxed fit and the pockets too.

On the other hand, burglars might steal a kidâs stuffed animal just to be mean!

Hobbes is priceless. Too bad Calvinâs parents are too dense to realize that!

Chill out, kid! No two-bit punk would steal a plush toy. Theyâre not even worth a half of a dime bag!

Maybe heâs hiding somewhere Calvin and thieves would never look, like the bathtub.

So, now the strip is called âCalvinâ.
jakarlsson 9 months ago
Iâm going out on a limb here, but I predict that Hobbs will soon be found! Otherwise the strip will have to be renamed⊠âCalvin!â

Itâll be okay, Calvin, Iâm sure you will find Hobbes soon.

No worries, Calvin. Cats are great at hiding when necessary. Our cat flat out disappears when sheâs on afternoon break.

If you think heâs valuable but the thieves did not, then youâve got the best of both worlds.
