My Mom had our favorite living-room couch recovered and then covered in plastic. My Dad retreated to his bedroom us kids to the playroom, and my Mom to the kitchen. Family TV nights were never the same, and nobody ever sat on that couch unless we had company.
It becomes a form of insanity to have furniture you cannot use, or cannot enjoy or look at. My grandmother had a friend who covered the furniture and the floor in newspaper to “keep it clean.”
I get that this is a comic, and this is supposed to be funny, but I am logical and practical. Knowing Earl is a slob, I cannot imagine why Opal would go buy bedding that he can’t fart into. I sure wouldn’t.
I asked this question on Garfield and said I would ask it again here. Are there any Comics Kingdom readers on here? If so, have you been getting the box that tells you that you reached you limit and they want you to subscribe to their premium membership to be able to read any comics? I have had Monday and Tuesday and I sent them an angry comment on their “contact us” page about it.

Get the plastic covers!

Earl needs to get a hammock. Opal wouldn’t care about what it looks like and it would get him out of the house…

Why he puts up with that Harridan I’ll never know!

If there’s a spare bedroom, it’s time for Earl to move.

She should have put it on the bed in the guest room. She could remove it when a guest is expected.

I hope they have two bathrooms. Goodness knows what female niceties Opal has situated in the ‘girls’ bathroom.

I remember the squeak and slide of plastic on furniture from when I was a boy. Was always tempted to sit on the floor afterwards!

Aesthetics should live side-by-side with utility, but should never dominate it.

Not much comfort from THAT comforter!

Walk in with a full cup of black coffee and “whoops”! Well it’s broken in, now we can relax! (hey, it worked with every new rug or couch!)

There isn’t much in our house that we would miss if a puppy got into it. Which is good, as we got a puppy two months ago.

After redecorating the house she will gate off all the ‘new’ rooms, and everyone else will have to live in the mud room at the back door.

If that’s the way she’s gonna be, guess Earl might as well not bother renewing the Viagra prescription.

If it is that fragile, it should be folded up at the end, not spread out for anyone to sit on.
