Dr. Fauci served under seven presidents, starting with Reagan. He did a commendable job for all those years. Then Dolt45 came along and crossed him because Dolt45 is a moron. Now, the cult that has arisen around drumpf has decided that Dr. Fauci is somehow a criminal because their fantastic leader IS a criminal.

They are angry with Dr. Fauci for being intelligent and telling everyone as much knowledge as he had available to him. Dr. Fauci did not purposely mislead as drumpf does.

Dr. Fauci did an outstanding job, even with the moron Trump undercutting him at every turn.

Then there was “Rand” (as in Ayn) Paul, who is an eye doctor and hasn’t practiced medicine in years, trying to cast aspersions on Fauci, a practitioner of a specialty Paul knows nothing about.

Republicans killing themselves with a preventable virus isn’t much of a long-term strategy, but it has my complete support.

Still on that? Fauci did his job very well, especially considering who he had to deal with in the White House.

Fauci: The earth is round. Trump: The earth is flat. Fauci saved more lives with his truth than Trump killed with his lies. Trump turned health science into a political football of Maga dogma ending many lives and enabling covid’s prolonged spread. Big pharmaceutical corporations found a cure not particularly from humanitarian concern but because it was a goldmine of government handouts. Trump ridiculed the results of their discoveries calling it a form of mind control socialism. Many Magaites died from his perverted opinion. Yet still people like Varvel continue to kick Fauci around in their fervor of ignorance and posturing to Maga lunacy.

Trump has said that no one could have foreseen the Covid pandemic. Well, someone did.

The Obama administration established White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense after the Ebola epidemic of 2014. They set up 40 clinics in hot spots all over the world, whose job was to monitor the local situation and immediately send for adequate help to contain any threat. One of those clinics was in the Chinese province where Covid originated.

The Trump White House dissolved the office, as part of the budget cuts when he cut taxes. It’s impossible to assess the full impact of this 2018 decision, but it is clear that eliminating the office contributed to the federal government’s sluggish domestic response. What’s especially concerning about the absence of this office today is that it was originally set up because a previous epidemic made the need for it quite clear. When asked about the slow roll-out of coronavirus tests in the U.S. on March 13, President Trump responded, “I don’t take responsibility at all.” Trump is not just responsible for it. He owns it. The Trump Plague is not just his responsibility. It and all the problems it caused are his fault.

Last month the Republican Congress tried to prove Fauci had tried to suppress investigations into the possibility that Sars-CoV-2 came from a China lab. They were defeated when numerous letters and emails were presented showing Fauci stating he wanted and was actively supporting scientists investigating the lab scenario. The Wenstrup Committee quickly dropped the matter.

What I found most upsetting was the GOP committee members repeatedly saying they could not understand why science changes when there is new data. These supposedly educated people had no clue about the scientific process.

He was the perfect target for the conman because he was not going to yield to Trump or the ignorance of the suckers. Gain of function testing is critical to the field of virology. Yet, that and the lab system were part of every conceivable conspiracy. Consider how many fake cures were being sold. The list is enormous. Every conman knows the best place to find marks is from people who have already been conned. Yet, their leader got the vaccine. He didn’t use any of the products. He used top grade medical care from the people who were supposed to be part of the conspiracy. This happened before their eyes. It was undeniable. But look the at comments here. Reality is meaningless when the world is being your comprehension and you are in desperate need of someone to make it all better.

On trial for what? Some allegations from Comer and Paul? Why is he not on trial? Because he did nothing wrong. Because a fake case cannot be created. I love how people think it is a travesty that Trump is on trial when he has OBVIOUSLY done a lot of bad and illegal things, but these same people think it is a travesty when people who have done nothing wrong are not on trial. Jeez.

After so many lies for so long from this cartoonist, likely because he and other Trumpists want so badly for their version of reality to be true for their devious purposes, lies such as this become expected fare and are no longer shocking. Varvel’s cartoons and opinions have become meaningless.

Gary, I don’t care how woefully idiotic you or the rest of the wing nuts are, but if you don’t believe in science, stop using it. Turn off your computer, put down your phone, and go live in a shack in the woods.Briefly. Until you die in squalor. Or, make use of your clean running water, toilets, and ability to literally research any scientific topic in history, join the rest of us who accept the accuracy of the scientific process, and stop being so bog-ignorant.

Dr. Fauci is an American hero.
