Xerox invented the personal computer. They had one with a monitor, mouse, keyboard, et al. They couldn’t figure out how to use it to sell more paper products so they let any kid come in and play with it. Gates and Jobs both said that’s where they got their start.

How many letters have you received this week telling you that your personal information has been compromised by a data breach? You are instructed to online and advise the credit reporting services that you need to post a Fraud Alert on your credit file only to find out that you cannot talk to a human and you must interact with the credit reporting service’s computer by voice commands to set the alert. Yeah, I believe Lars may be correct; where would we be without the Internet?

No internet? We wouldn’t be enjoying our morning funnies.

Me? Cuppa coffee, toast and boot up and see what the guys are up to today.

I know, newspapers. I’d have to go four miles, in my robe, to get the paper. Mornings are a little cool for that silliness.

Happy Friday everyone! Carpet Diam or sumthin’.

The Internet can be both good or bad. Depends on the individual uising it. I for one enjoy Go Comics and all the commentators in it. It is fun and entertaining (and sometimes even educational).

Some people will always embrace the inferiority complex. Mankind couldn’t possibly come up with any advances on our own, we need outside ‘help’ to progress. Horse feathers.

According to ancient Mesopotamian mythology, a fish-like god taught humans the principles of civilization. If true, we sure showed him some cold thanks by eating his progeny habitually for lunch or dinner!

Ignorance of history is the thing that bothers me the most about this meme. There are many really good books about the history of scientific achievement. No aliens were involved.

On average, I would say most of us, most of the time are happier than almost all of the 1%. Most are terribly scared and insecure and big yachts , mega mansions, are just them compensating for their short comings.

There was a movie several years ago about a couple that time traveled to the earlier days from the future to kill people that were going to do bad things. Prevents the bad things from happening in the future. One of killers asks the other why they had to kill the couple they just took out. Answer: they were about to invent the internet!

Every good technological idea has bad aspects and makes some people rich. The people who get rich aren’t all nice. For that matter think of ideas. Christianity had some great ideas. Look at the people who profited from it.

This comic has got to be the one of the last ones on this site that people turn into either political or name calling. even though I do sometimes participate, I’m tired of it.

And without those tech billionaires, there would be no GoComics to read on-line. Without those tech billionaires, there would not be, those many tech jobs that support the internet. Those tech billionaires, are the innovators that have brought us into the future of the latest technologies we take for granted everyday.

Some people say fire. Some say the wheel. Some fast-forward a million years and say nuclear fission or the internet. My own nominee for humanity’s greatest invention (not discovery, not luck, not a gift of the gods) is language.

What the heck are you going to do with a billion dollars, much less, a hundred billion? Some people are worth more than entire countries and could buy them out, cash out the door.
