I voted early and thankfully my ballot was counted.
I know Idaho has no chance of turning blue, but I really hope Prop 1 passes so we can have open primaries and ranked choice voting next election. Been loving the entire attack against it is āItās not fair!ā when itās about giving people more choices.
Even though the polls indicate the overall election is close, there is a significant gender gap. I wonder how many people have read the Greek play āLysistrataā by Aristophanes?
I grew up āinside the beltway,ā and was raised by very political parents who encouraged all their kids to make independent decisions. I always vote. I always make my own choices. Sometimes other voters have agreed with me; sometimes they havenāt. If I didnāt like the outcome of a presidential election, I have always figured we would have another chance in four (at the most eight) years. This timeā¦ Iām not so sure.
(More than a month ago, on the same day the ballot arrived in the mailbox, I voted, carried the sealed envelope to the inside mail slot at the post office, and watched voter mail-tracking daily until it confirmed that my ballot was received at the election office. Iāve been recommending early voting to others. What more can one voter do?)
My dual-citizen wife followed all the rules for mail voting in her last US residence, Philadelphia. We were quite anxious for several weeks, daily checking the web site to see if her ballot had been received. Finally we saw that it had been, and she relaxed, knowing that she had done her duty in an important swing state.
A list of things a person a needs to prove identity for:

Applying for welfare
Applying for Medicaid/Social Security
Applying for unemployment or a job
Buying a house, applying for a mortgage

California, D.C., Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington require no ID to vote. Why is that?
What matters, Roger and Andy, is that you turn out to vote on Tuesday (unless you early voted or mailed in your ballot)! My hope is that (besides Harris/Walz winning the White House) the Democrats expand their razor thin Senate majority by a few seats and win back the House as well. Perhaps then, they can revive the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and perhaps start enacting the SCOTUS reforms Biden was calling for earlier this year, like term limits for Justices and an ethics code for Justices as well. But none of that wouldnāt matter if people who havenāt yet voted donāt vote on Tuesday!

Voting is essential to keeping our republic safe from wannabe dictators like the orange felon. Blue is a great color.
