There went the fourth wall. What makes him think we would say bad things in the comments?

Arlo and Lundy know they are in a comic strip. I’m not sure that Janis has realised it.

I saw a distant cousin Saturday at the Huie family reunion and her hair was naturally white and looked quite lovely. I told her so. She thanked me but said that her mother disagreed. I told her mother she was mistaken, it was beautiful hair on a beautiful daughter. She was forced to agree.

I am reminded of the time Janis asked Arlo if younger women looked better to him. He told her no, they did not and then he thought silently to himself, “Older women do.”

Hugging is a replacement for Arlo?

Now we know Jimmy is peeking at us as we read.

Wonder what will happen to Arlo’s hair ? Will he go bald and beautiful ? Gray ?

I think Janis’s grey hair is lovely and appropriate. It’s Arlo whose lemon-yellow hair looks unnatural for the age everyone around here says he is. On the other hand, the kids should be greying a bit too, and the grandchild (I can’t remember her name) is unnaturally young in context.

Or, they could all be timeless and never age

Here it is-no human being in the history of the world has ever had a hair style like either Arlo or Janis. Well, maybe James Brown.

The hair here is not grey, more like maroon, assortie to her pants. And, indeed, in comics, as in cartoons, should they get older, everyone in the comics should grow too. Men tend to go grey then white, faster women who often color their hair. So ok to have Janis grow older but what about everyone else ?

Ha Ha! Don’t worry Janis. Some of us might be critical, but we still love you. It reminds me of Elton John’s works …….WE like to think of you as “Island Girl” rather than “Grey Seal” , despite you being both “Hot” and “Wise” ☺♡

Wasn’t there a bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth from some people when Janis first cut her hair shorter from the long hair of the strip’s early days?

I figured today’s strip was a reference to that.

I love how this comic has aged with me.

Hmmm…I don’t think a change of hair color as a new hairdo. A new “do” would be If it was cut and coiffed differently. I think when a woman chooses to stop coloring her hair, she just upsets the hairstylist she goes to a bit. There is a fair amount of profit to be made in keeping a lady’s hair colored.

The hairdo isn’t new. Going back to her natural haircolor is, and I like it. I have been gray naturally for 20 years, and I earned every gray hair!!!

If I were Janis, I would be thinking, “The comments can jolly well stay away from me!”

She didn’t change her “hairdo”. She changed her hair color. She’s had that same hairdo ever since I’ve been reading this comic.

Why, Jimmy? She doesn’t care what we think about her hair. Let us recall, after the poll about what new hairstyle she should get, she kept the winning one for 1 day before reverting to the old one.

In real life Arlo would be graying at the temples with no hair on top.

Wow! If JJ’s intent was to generate reader comments, he certainly succeeded. It just goes to show that reader comments have become such an integral part of online comics.

I didn’t like it the first day, when little or no shading was used on the hair. I like it now.

Janis changed her hairstyle?

Sporting the Tabby look from Adult Children. I like it!

Her hair is the same color as mine is now: Mushroom Brown. Instead of salt and pepper, many of us formerly dark brunettes go cinnamon and sugar, which blends to a lighter ash brown with dark brown roots. (For now; it’s still morphing.)

I get lots of compliments on my hair, so either people like it or they’re afraid to tell me the truth. ;)

I like her hairdo.

My wife came home with a hairdo and color, shocked the hell out of me, and she got what she deserved. Ya’ll sure know how to raise a pole.

I think I like it too, but I just realized that her hair is still brown on Sundays. So I’m not sure I’m observant enough to offer up an opinion.

I have never told a female I didn’t like their hair-do. There were some I didn’t like, but it wasn’t my hair, so I don’t get a vote. Same with clothes, or make-up, or…
