I would almost swear that this is the lead up part of the story that is now belatedly being revealed to us. If this is the prelude to goof ball bomber getting killed in the men’s room…
In Mary Worth this week, Mary is sick in bed with the flu, worried she won’t be able to make her annual Thanksgiving dinner for her neighbors, & that’s more suspenseful than this storyline.
With replacing the wiring – since it’s been 84 years, bringing in energy efficient LED lighting, triple checking the structural stability of the translucent clock face prior to light… It should only take three or four months. And, of course, it will take two or three workers off paying projects. That’s why it was a low priority in the first place
Dad is wildly inconsistent. He calls it folderol, and refers to the mayor’s office as that bunch of idiots, and then caves in to the poor suggestion. (Not the first time he’s been shown as muttering wild nonsense – sometimes transforming into a bug-eyed mutant before a pointless rant.) Sometimes he’s shown as a hard-nosed business man, sometimes mush-brained businessman.
OK so here we finally get a clue. Dad is not involved in anything bad but the son is. Thee’s something he’s put in the clock and does not wat people up there messing around.
My fellow A.D.D. members I have bad news and I’m not sure how to say this… We’ve lost our friend and fellow A.D.D. member, JoshHere. I got a e-mail from his brother and he told me what happened. I still can’t believe it. Right now, I’m at a loss for words. I’m sorry to deliver this terrible news. :(
1- FRED SR: OK. Where you taking Darlene the Secretary for your date? FRED JR: Let me address this like I’m making a presentation…
2- FRED SR: DON’T BOTHER! Do I look like I need a nap???
3- FRED JR:Crack! That’s hurtful, Dad. I was going to say that Darlene would likely not appreciate my personal attributes. FRED SR: You have one??? News to me. FRED JR: Sure! I’m hung like…
FRED SR: That picture behind you? FRED JR: Huh? Oh…YEAH! LIKE THAT!
cue the dark ambient music with discordant overtones which, although broadly tonal, is inflected with chromatic and polytonal passages representing the archetypal example of a florid, melodramatic style without being interpreted as an overly heavy-handed metaphor within the context of the thematic material a bit on the frenetic and frantic side with interesting rhythmic devices which seem to counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor utilizing a novel imaging technique known as positron emission tomography and the spontaneous nondenominational conceptions by expansively recontextualizing liminal narratives of colonic hydrotherapy with a twinge of giddiness and bilateral gynandromorph
So…anyway, posted a new chapter of my dick tracy story a few days ago, introduced FOUR new characters to the tracy support team…traffic reporter Kat Collins (who’s an actual traffic reporter on my local radio station)..her two sons Max and Allan (who will soon to be revealed as pivotal characters in the story, and identical twins) and finally Mayor Armstrong’s nephew Fletcher

Dad has gotten the shakes in panel two. Probably from trying so hard not to fall asleep during this story.
These stories are on cruise control.

This clock light has been reminding me of the Falstaff weather ball in New Orleans, built and first lit in 1952.
