I think the most shocking thing is.. Brad actually kept the receipt??

Hard to believe this is the last day of the year. NYE has never been quite the same since Dick Clark passed away. The old “Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” celebrations and ball drops were like a tradition.

I’m glad to know Greg’s artwork has improved since this strip.

Brad WAS a jerk back then, but he turned out swell. I wonder who his mentor was—certainly not Frank!

But yesterday Bernice said it looked relly cute and was flattering an showed really classy taste. Just re – gift it to Bernice next year

Luann won’t wear the (nice) sweater because her brother purchased it. He kept the receipt. And he’s a jerk?

B n L crushed on this one. Didn’t get the emotion they were hoping for.

Such a difference between last week’s exchange of sibling gifts, with Brad’s T-Shirt gift to Lu engendering such sweet love, and this earlier iteration of sibling gift giving. This progression shows maturation and humor. If the story is followed these changes are seen, but if all one does is riff off characters on likes or dislikes, they are not.

If someone told me they were going to return a gift (without a good reason ) it would be the last gift I gave them. I never buy clothes for anyone else.

I liked this era far better. No lessons, no hugging.

Brad knew Luann would hate the sweater.

He’s your brother – he knows you and knows your fashion senses are on the opposite ends of the scale.

Brad has always been a practical guy, it’s a great thing that he’s more sensible now and there’s no doubt that he loves his sister.

If his family regularly returns his gifts, that would explain the really terrible gifts he gave last week.

Younger Brad wasn’t quite as dumb as we sometimes remember him. He knew that there was a good chance that Luann wouldn’t like the sweater, so he kept the receipt at hand. No drama. Just the way it should be.

So much for being concerned about his feelings. He doesn’t care.

Brad is a jerk because he didn’t seem to care she was returning his gift? Was she returning it just to hurt his feelings and his non-reaction made her mad? Hopefully next week will feature different characters. I can only take Luann and her self-centered, spoiled attitude in small quantities.

Yeah we get it, young Luann was a pretty terrible person. No wonder Brad is such a bad gift-giver now, since he learned that any effort he put in was for naught.

I went to buy 2 gift cards and it turned into a circus. I made sure to keep receipts and give them with the cards with the warning to make sure not to lose them. And people accuse the government of complicated transactions.

Are Young Greg and Old Greg the same artist?

Reminds me of the Jim Gaffigan joke about receiving an unwanted gift with a receipt. “So…you got me an errand?”

xmas/ birthday presents,, huh, somehow my one and only sibling and me never (in surviving memory) indulged. parents did, shurre, but not us, dunno why / not. # time flies

My rule is, if you return my gift, I want to know what you got instead so I can get better at gifting.

So it appears that Luann has been dealing with Bernices crappy attitude for a while. To keep her head above water takes a lot of effort.

I was already having a hard time believing that Y2K was 25 years ago when it struck me that 25 years BEFORE Y2K my wife and I were engaged and not married yet.

He bore up manfully to his crushing disappointment.
