I’d enjoy today’s sparkling wit more if I had never learned how to pronounce conch. Oh, no, wait! Enough people have mispronounced it that the formerly incorrect pronunciation is now just as correct as the old way still is! I still like the old way; it’s more fun to say. :-)

Sadly, I feel an overwhelming urge to spoil the joke by being pedantic.That word is pronounced “Conk”

This sent me to the dictionary, and I was surprised to find out that “kontch” is now an accepted pronunciation.

Just glad Rat didn’t have his trusty Louisville Slugger to beat the shell out of Pastis….

Is Pastis ambidextrous? Today he’s writing/drawing with his right hand instead of his left. This is the first time I’ve noticed him doing so. As a lefty I notice such things.

Surprised Pastis wasn’t conched on the head in the last panel. Usually these puns have that result.

There is already far to many behind bars for silly things, it is like somehow prisons have become money makers and so much money that those who run them keeps lobbying politicians for ways to get more inmates. The 541 persons per 100.000 Americans is a crazy number – it is 5 times that of the countries of the civilized world and unworthy of any country.
