Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Andā¦there it is. The ripping off of a 1963 āPeanutsā arc where Linusās plans to safely view the solar eclipse are ruined by inclement weather is now complete. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Coming up next: either a visit to Montoniās Pizza or Lillian the Lizard at the Ohioana book convention, Iāll wager.
Some of the right-wing fundamentalists are thinking this is going to be the raptureā¦ how I wish this comments platform would allow us to insert pictures and emojisā¦
Ed has at least 20 guests (I counted) that is about at least $500 he pulls inn but he is barely making a profit due to the porta potty rental, chairs; air mattresses and glasses
I wonder what the increase will be in calls to ophthalmologists and cell phone, digital camera purchases on April 9th?
Sunglasses will not protect your eyes! You need level 14 or higher welderās glass or eclipse glasses that are ISO 12312-2:2015 compliant. A case study of a woman who observed a partial eclipse without the appropriate safety measures showed that she had a crescent-shaped burn on her retina.
Cameras also need protection of a special filter. Pointing your camera at the sun for an extended period of time, like when you record a video, can damage the CCD or CMOS of your camera.
āThe bad news isā¦ Mort Winkerbean and his Bedside Manor band have teamed up with Dinkleās church choir to perform Claude Barlowās āGolden Showersā up on the roof.ā
Same issue here. Everyone predicted sunny weather tomorrow. They just changed it to rainā¦all day long. Spring hasnāt arrived here. It has rained or sowed every day since March 1st.
If it is raining, obviously it has been overcast and probably dark skies for quite a while. And everyone was sitting in chairs on Edās lawn patiently waiting forā¦nothing? Are they all relatives?
Well, why itās unusual for an American to be wearing CFL merchandise, at least Jeff is supporting an winner. (Unlike an Indianapolis, or, Cleveland, NFL team.)
Called it when this whole arc started. Of course it rains. I guess nobody there ever heard of checking the weather forecast.
By the way, apparently Batiuk has never seen what a pair of eclipse glasses actually looks like. Those people all look like theyāre wearing regular sunglasses.
Pretty much this same thing happened back at the 2017 solar eclipse. The town of St. Joseph, MO was smack dab in the path of totality, and one of the few decent cities in that path. People rented their houses for folks to stay, rented their yards and driveways for people to park campers and vans, and a lot of money changed hands ā a much-needed economic boost to the town. Then, the morning of the eclipse, a steady downpour moved in. I was living and working in North Kansas City back then, and we all went out to watch the eclipse with our glasses. We saw most of it, but just a few minutes before totality the clouds from the edge of the storm covered the sun. Still was eerie to watch the darkness move in, the streetlights come on, the birds go to roost and the nocturnal insects start sounding off, all in the middle of the day.
Saw a comment on Twitter that some areas that expected huge crowds arenāt really seeing them, possibly because of all the reports of chaos and huge traffic jams. So people are staying away.
People seem to forget that a total eclipse is a unique experience even if itās cloudy out. The birds and bugs still go nuts, and while itās dark where you are, you can still see where the sun shines in all directions outside the moonās shadow. Yeah, a total eclipse on a clear day is incomparable, but even on a cloudy day itās something you wonāt see anywhere else.

Tomorrow: everyone goes away. Then the rain stops, the clouds part and thereās no one looking at the eclipse.
