Ask me that and I’d have to go with “Yucky and yuckier”… but I like coffee only slightly more than an ingrown toenail. Maybe.

Just learned that coffee beans are not beans, they’re seeds. Seems obvious now. And I agree with the kid about the taste.

He’s growing up fast today! Next stop-learning to quickly chew broccoli(I didn’t like that vegetable as a kid)!

Coffee: Nasty, bitter, burnt, bean drippings!

When I was a kid, coffee was considered an adult drink. My brothers and I never touched it until we were adults. Just the way it was in my family.

Frazz should have learned by now what most parent know. A conversation with a 9-year-old is never gonna end where you think it will.

Went a few years stressing over doing the grind, espresso fine, but laziness won out. I do savor the first cup after opening the Starbucks bag, but I’m fine with the last cup too.

How does the kid know what dirty mop water tastes like?

Who gives coffee to someone else’s 9 year old?

I’m 36 years old and I agree with the nine-year-old. Actually, I generally compare it to fever sweat.

I prefer tea. Earl Grey. Hot.

Well…. coffee, like booze and tobacco, is an acquired taste. As a kid I couldn’t stand the taste of any of it but as an adult I acquired a taste for all three. Coffee was the last of the three I learned to like (more or less).

For a time I would only drink coffee with a ton of sugar and milk. Then I started my first mid shift and quickly learned to drink coffee black and strong (and still prefer it that way). But then I generally only drank coffee at work. And these days I drink decaf (because of blood pressure)(and I can’t tell the difference in taste) when I bother to drink coffee at all.

Oh, and about tobacco… I quit smoking in the mid 80’s when it started being outlawed indoors. And, while I still drink booze, I’ve never been a particularly heavy drinker and couldn’t tell you the last time I had a drink. But I do have a small collection of wines and meads tucked away and will enjoy a good beer on occasion (so no Bud or Coors for me!).

Dirty mop. Love that one. When I was a kid American coffee was mostly made of brownish water with a slight aftertaste and had a terrible reputation in my country, and many names. Come to think of it, the Buck isn’t much better.
