Luann: "I've spent lots of hours in this room with you. Of course you were 8,000 miles away"
Quill: "Well, I'm here now"
Luann: "Yes you are. Uh- hold on a sec"
Door *shut. click.*
Luann: "Oops. A breeze just closed and locked my door"
Yep, a small campfire, just to enjoy a little warmthâŠthatâs all they think it will be⊠before you know it, boom!!! Wildfires, everywhere!!!! Canât play with the fire of passion! âŠâŠ if itâs uncontrolled, it does burnâŠ.
Iâm with overtherainbow and webber. Quill has shown a sense of decency throughout the time Iâve read this strip going back to last spring. I think heâll apply the brakes hereâŠhe respects Luannâs parents more than she knows how to control herself. Not the time.
Not to distract too much from the matter at hand (which is rapidly moving out of control), but I wonder what else was written on that boomerang necklace that Lu didnât read?
A possible scenario: Maybe Lu and Quill will end up getting into a âdiscussionâ about the subject, and it will cause them to have a small (maybe temporary) rift in their relationship, and Quill will go to camp having been in an argument with Luann, and she will get worried and play right into Tiffâs hands⊠even if Quill resists Tiffanyâs âadvancesâ, Luann will be annoyed at the least, which is what she also wants, as wellâŠ. ==But not unless she has to contend with Frank and Nancy firstâŠâŠ..
She dragged him up her winding stair,Into her dismal den,Within her little parlor âBut he neâer came out again.
.Watch out, Quilly â boyâŠ^I guess Luannâs dinner is from âOutbackâ⊠==And Frank and Nancy was cooking for four, and sheâs making âdinner for twoââŠ==However you slice it, dinner will be ruinedâŠ..
I donât think Quill is interested in what Luann is trying to offer. Heâs not making one single aggressive move towards her. I think heâs got jet lag and would far prefer to sleep. I also think heâs going to break up with Luann. Perhaps his dad has convinced him to go to college at home or⊠Heâs going to pursue a music career.. Or heâs going to choose Tiff. I may be wrong butâŠ
Thanks BrdshttâŠ. I used to recite that poems first few lines but never did hear the rest of it. Love it!
Quillâs going to do the right thing and not let it go anywhere. (The wind blew the door shut and locked it? Come on, need a better story than that). However, Iâm going to bet that heâs going to unlock the door right as Frank is going to try to come in and Quill will appear as the guilty one and blamed for the situation.
Well, I did try to keep it âGâ rated. :)^I guess I blocked repressive memories about that poem⊠itâs funny how those poems from when we were kids were so traumatic (like rock a bye baby, for one)âŠ.==Yeah, Lu trying to put moves on olâ âQuilly Boyâ, is going to ruin the nice, peaceful âfamily dinnerâ her parents so kindly arranged, itâs about to become a less than peaceful one, soonâŠ.. if thereâs going to be one at all⊠==Poor Quill⊠catch 22.. either he ticks off Luann, or her parentsâŠ. may not get the chance to stick around⊠Lu could be going to ruin more than just the dinner, maybeâŠ.
âsince sheâs not venomous as Luann is going to be. "^I think that thereâs a danger of driving Quill away, tooâŠ. ==But Tiffany can seem like a spider, as well⊠just more of a Funnel Web spider⊠Quill has had experience with avoiding those kinds in the âoutbackâ⊠hers is also just a different kind of venomâŠ. ==And she may have some sour and salty under that sugar coating, tooâŠ. but maybe thereâs also some human frailness and such inside, just lost in everything elseâŠ.
Unless Lu wants to set herself up for a huge amount of hurt, followed by guilt, she had better put the brakes on her raging hormones NOW. It would not surprise me to see Quill leave, go to his hotel room, write Lu a good-bye letter, and never return. She has a great opportunity to have a nice relationship hereâŠbut I see she is not (at least in these panels) thinking things through. As Bystander just stated, I think (and hope) Quill slows things down. Better Lu be hurt a little now, than be devastated later.
Okay, Iâm going to make a big effort.1) Luann does not have ânaughtyâ intentions, you pervs! She just wants a little privacy with QuillâŠ. Maybe.2) Isnât dinner ready yet, Nancy? Shouldnât you be sending Frank to call the kids to table about now? Maybe.Or 3) maybe raging hormones are causing Luann to throw away all her upbringingâŠ. I hope not.
So all of you who keep insisting that Toni and Brad are doing it, would you please explain why Greg Evans is shy about such matters when it comes to consenting adults yet not shy about them when it involves horny minors?
Luann surely KNOWS she wonât get away with that (Dad is already on his feet with that click). And Quill is a gentleman who would not take advantage in any case. In a word . . .
My group response is: yes, yes, no, possibly- but in a slightly different manner, are you kidding?, interesting but not gonna happen, no, no, ha!, and stay tuned. Match them to the posts.
Knock â Knock. Itâs Dad of course. After repeated knocks, Luann will have to open the door. Dad will say something like âHow do you want your hamburgers?â. Note Quill doesnât look too excited about Luannâs door being locked. Not sure what heâs looking ahead to.
I am actually surprised at Luannâs behavior. To shut and lock the bedroom door is a pretty rude/disrespectful thing to do to her parents, regardless of her âhormonal urgesâ. There are undoubtedly a lot of kids like thatâŠ. but I would not have pictured Luann to be that impolite to her parentâs and their efforts in teaching her about behavior and decorum.
Mr. Perfect sure looks clueless in the last panelâŠ. I agree with those who say he wonât do anything with Luâs parents there, but, Iâm sure her parents will blame HIM when they break down that door. Much as I canât stand Quill, that wouldnât be fair to the guy; but, itâs the way these things happen.
Hi Leviticus! I just feel like saying, I do look forward to your posts daily, even if we wonât always see eye to eye. Actually due to various circumstances, I am here on the boards a lot. I donât post as much as you do, but if you start a 24/7 club, I will join it:) Have a great day!
Iâm gatheriing that a large part of our commenters used to watch that POS âMarried With Childrenâ wayback when!âwoooooooooooooooooooooh !â every 10 seconds.
Give the girl a break. Luann has been locked in puberty for the last 20 years!^^28, to be precise⊠then again, Dennis the Menace has been stuck in early childhood for 62 years, which is worse? :D
And maybe a few hinges on Quill, tooâŠ==And possibly their relationship will hinge on if Frank and Nancy can ever get over this case of âmistrustâ, maybe even of Quill" who just happened to be at âground zeroâ (unless tomorrowâs circumstances show that theyâll âexonerateâ him) âŠ.
Yeah, shouldnât discount the fury of a mother⊠a mother is a ninja, assassin, soldier and hit man all rolled into one, when she needs to be⊠and whatever Frank can do, âmom lawâ will make it stand or fallâŠ.
Maybe all of our comments are stirring in Quillâs mind (well, not really) but perhaps he is contemplating the issues that we all are (minus the ones from under a bridge) and will make the attempt to âdisarmâ Lu, and dissuade her all in one fell swoop, and go to open the door himself⊠the critical key then will be can he do it before someone also approaches said door?
Donât be too sure about Quill. When youâre 17-18, your urges can overpower your common sense, upbringing, logic, and fears in a big hurry. Think back to when you were that age.
âdoors in THIS house are not mechanisms for adjusting your family/social interaction levelâŠâ^THIS houseâŠ. I appreciate the way you phrased it⊠can help to kill two âargumentsâ with one stone⊠(such as what happens when one thinks the grass is greener on the other side of the front door, and theyâre not ready to take care of it)âŠ.==especially like the way that you phrased the whole thing, actuallyâŠ..
Knock! Knock! OOOH, Dadâs at the door, Quill.Shoppersâ Drug Mart! Here with your prescription, maâam.Hurry, Quill! We donât want dad to notice.
Ummm, whatâs up, dad?Quill just left, Luann. Tiff came in with the delivery guy.Drat.
Quill wants Luann as much as she wants him. But heâs not going to do anything more than kissing with her parents in the next room. He is not interested in Tiffany at all, he doesnât like her personality.
Dave, youâre sounding like Dana Carveyâs grumpy old man. ;) Youâve got a point about classic humor, tho. Bill Cosbyâs stand up from the 60âs is still hilarious. Curiously, some of Cheech and Chongâs drug oriented stuff sounds dated now.
He may or may not (I think he did) have implied that they did it in the shower that one time. They have been an adult couple for a lot more days than just that one when they were flirting with the make up. If they are having sex, that was probably fun, but not the only, or even the first, time. Learn more words, the constant repetition of the same ones is not conveying any message.
Iâm going to put on my very best naive face and pretend I think that Luann is setting a trap for her dad. She wants him to beat down the door only to get in and find her and Quill playing backgammon.
Nobody ever said that. What I said was that itâs not just about whoâs horny and his/her own desires â itâs about whatâs best for both of them. A 17-year-old girl whoâs clearly letting her hormones do the driving (regardless of what Quill might want) is just as bad as a 17-year-old boy whoâs letting HIS hormones do the driving (regardless of what the girl might be feeling). Luann only wants sex with Quill for the sake of experiencing sex RIGHT NOW. It doesnât even seem to have crossed her mind that Quill might simply not be ready to go there (and in direct defiance of her parentâs standards with them just a few yards away), which to me is the epitome of selfishness on her part. If she truly loves and respects Quill and her parents, sheâll apologize and unlock and open that bedroom door immediately.
@Leviticus re: Puddlesâ- What if Puddles is sleeping âcause Luann slipped him some âDoggie Downersâ? Luann has obviously been thinking about this opportunity a long time, so just how much planning has gone into her little project to seduce Quill? Luann as a wicked Temptress bent on seducing poor virtuous Quill is an incredibly amusing thought to me. Iâll bust out laughing if the next thing Frank and Nancy hear from down the hall is "Eeek! Luann, no! I donât like it! Help! Somebody Help!â
Seems like they could talk (or whatever) someplace other than the bedroom. I used to have boys over all the time, but not in my bedroom. On the other hand, if Dad would stop acting like a nut-job helicopter, she might not feel like she has to hide.
