It’s Quill. He’s the “ONE.”

Jesus, Luann. Your name ought be Seesaw Susie. Pingpong Pam. Pinball Penny. Pendulum Patricia. Swinging Sally. (Notice the names for moving back and forth or haphazardly begin with S or P?). Perhaps Nil will put a stop to that crazy pattern.

And what are we supposed to read into Nil showing up like that?

Nil may have his eye (haha) on Luann—maybe that’s why he took Art 101 again (probably heard from Jack that she’d be a TA). Hmm…

Well, I knew all along that last week’s arc was going to spill over into this week. But I did expect Jack to be the one meeting Luann after the date was over. It’s not like that hasn’t happened before.

Just like it’s not like Luann’s date not rating a face hasn’t happened before, either.

If you find that you have to keep asking yourself the questions Luann is asking after a date, then the answer is “No”.

So many catch 22s. People who knock you out on your first date usually have that effect on everybody – so harder to catch and harder to keep. Luann should go on the prowl with Tara. I think they would be surrounded by guys – with Tara commanding most of the initial attention – but one or more guys warming up to Luann in a short time.

It might be that Nil is the one. And he might have come 140 million miles to be with Luann. Faulty reasoning, but this is Luanniverse, where anything is possible.

Luann is over thinking. She will never date Ryder again.

Her constant self-analysis is her crutch. She’ll never meet anyone “on her own”.

The artist keeping Ryder unseen is doing us all a favor here, letting us know that we needn’t bother caring about this particular plot development since we already know it won’t go anywhere.

Why didn’t she meet him at that scary restaurant that her parents own? It’s not she would have to pay for anything.

Doesn’t Nil mean nothing? I would like to know more about this character. All we really know is a really bad haircut!

The IS no ‘The One’. And you know the success rate involved in looking for things that don’t exist? Lower than you might initially think!

I think Nil will open up Luann’s eyes to look at Jack in the way she can’t see, and Jack can’t or won’t express. I still think Jack will be the one, for now anyway. Actually I think he is a good candidate for being the real one, but that will take quite a while to develop. My money is still on Jack and Luann eventually.

Ugh. Quill? Teen-age romance. It’s great for looking back on a long time from when it occurred, but, best left as a memory. Luann isn’t the type to live the actor’s life and Quill was set and solid on that for his life.

Luann has had like 2 dates in many many months. “The One”? I’d be happy with a storyline!

It’s rare to see Luann so lost in thoughts. I’m happy she’s like this. Now I wonder if she is going to the Art class or her meeting Nil is just casual. Will they talk about Jack?

Hey, I SEE the “problem” here. Luann’s trying too hard. She’s a wonderful person and she SHOULDN’T, Have to!

If she’d just RELAX, I’m SURE a nice guy would literally FALL right into her la…., Oh Look! It’s Non! I mean, Nil, NOT Jack!

RE-LAX, Gentle Folk. I don’t suspect it’s Nil either. Although Nil would have made a PERFECT boyfriend for Crystal. Too bad she’s she’s no longer in the Strip.

Nah. I’ll wager either:

1) Jack will show up in her class, and the big lug will have have second thoughts and FINALLY get off his duff, and starts asking Lu out. Or….,

2) Some new intriguing hot guy in her class that Lu can do a “Howie” and go all “Teacher’s Assistant” over.

But FIRST she has to get “him” away from Tara………, ;)

Ok, Rumpled or whatever is thrown away and Nil/Null is here to listen to Luann and…. I see possibility with Nil and advise, he’s quiet, more observant (I suspect) than projected and possibly thinks out of the box (which should help Luann more than Bernice ever would have). If there’s a surprise neither Nancy nor Pru are listening to Luann (yet). The interesting thing will be seeing if Nil points her at one of the “guys” (I have my favorite but the field could be wide open) or tells her to Relax, Breathe, and Smile….

A match made in heaven

Let’s recap the bidding; as they say in Bridge. Jack and Luann talk about ease of dating. A date opportunity “falls in Jack’s lap.” He browbeats Luann into talking to Ryder; she gets his number. Jack dials Ryder’s number, forcing Luann into a lunch date with him.

Story picks up with Luann pondering her perceived inability to find “the one.” Whatever “the one” means to her. She is amused that she bumps into Nil. So now where?

She dates Nil? No way. She has a heart to heart with Nil and receives life changing advice. Highly improbable from one-liner Nil. She proceeds with Nil to class where she meets the next “Quill-like” throb. Probably not; that’s been done. Luann throws her cares to the wind and decides to “play the field” indiscriminately, ala Jack, and give up on “the one.” Well, she tried throwing caution to the wind once, after the Monster Truck show. That didn’t turn out well.

I think GnK are going to take us someplace new, perhaps controversial. Maybe tomorrow will tell!?!?

How is it weird that Nil shows up at the college he attends? They both attend the same college. It is only weird that Luann is surprised to see Nil at college.

Is Luann throwing shade at the shadow man? Or, could this guy really be “The Shadow” Lamont Cranston? Or Lamont’s grandson?

OK … OK! Luann! You’re a sweet, young lady! BUT, this is just ‘the dating scene’ … NOT The Highlander !!

Today seems like a pretty grand day, IMO, in the Luanniverse:

1. Luann met Ryder and went to lunch….. but also made a relatively (for Luann) definite decision that she did not plan to pursue a relationship with him further. This seems like considerable progress…. IMO…. because Luann was not just “swept up” in the idea that Ryder eyed her…. and she made a decision based upon her own feelings of the potential boyfriend.

2. Nil pops into the picture as Luann is contemplating “the one”.

For me, I really like the character of NIl…. so I think it would be wonderful, funny, and sweet, and enjoyable to see Luann and Nil try out being a couple. I even think it could be a wonderful pairing too! I also look forward to seeing more of Nil.

Now, the reality is that Greg may take this a whole bunch of different ways. Here is what I have thought as possible (along with my “gut” opinion):

a) Luann and Nil could date. For me, this would be (as stated above) very fun…. and I would look forward to multiple weeks of this progression.

b) Nil might “talk up” Jack and Luann sees Jack differently. This seems entirely possible for Nil…. and would be ok…. because I like Jack’s character too. But, I do not think it would be as entertaining and fun as Luann and Nil as a couple.

c) Nil is a “red herring” in this venue." I would not put this idea past Greg…. it might be that Luann just stays more “internally focused” about dating and does not even contemplate Nil. This could also be very good…. as I still feel Luann would benefit from more focus on her own goals and aspirations in life…. rather than just being all about relationships.

Nil is an art student; Luann should be also but likely she hasn’t made up her mind; perhaps he is the one who will nudge her in that direction.

Sometimes I’m astonished by the way folks can take these comic strips so seriously. They talk to the characters as if they’re real, fight over fictional scenarios, and go out of their way to spend massive amounts of time speculating about the comics. I love comics as much as the next person — but I sure don’t get so invested in ‘em…it’s mind-boggling. Wow…

Oh no! Not Nil!

So I am a bit confused. I thought Nil and Luann went to different schools. Wasn’t he at the same one as Bernice and Tiffany? Luann, Tara and Jack were going somewhere else.

Guess we are going through an avalanche of possibilities at the moment. Could we be getting nearer to an actual, honest to goodness, mutual, serious relationship for LuAnn?… Naaaaah. (Not yet at least).

Methinks the whole problem with these “dating angst” arcs is that they make Luann look like a “boy obsessed” teenager all over again.

Been there, done that. Let’s move on.

she is focusing on too many things. she doesn’t even know what she wants out of college. She has no way of figuring out what she wants in a guy.

Ancient iPad 2 (iOS 9) very unstable today.

So, I’ll shout out to whomever and the comment, “there ain’t no such thing as the one.”

Marriage is work. You are looking for someone to work together with. As long as the two of you are willing to work, and to work together, that’s all it takes to be “the one” to someone else, and vice versa.

It’s always good to have a helpful diversion just at the right time!

As I now recall, Nil is re-taking the freshman art class that Luann is TA for and I didn’t like him for trying to cut the class and have Luann cover for him. I hope there is some explanation for all of this. Maybe it was Tara’s frivolous ways rubbing off on him. He needs to stay away from Tara and associate with Luann, i.e. to pick up the habits of a more responsible person.
