Too bad there wasn’t a panel 4, 5 and 6 today. That way Luann could sheepishly tell Bernice that not only did she NOT get any information on Gun and Bets “sex life,” but Gunther came over to Her house and told her off!
So, Tiffany and her “new roomie” next week? Why not?

It’s about time Bernice once again “meddled” in Tiffany’s dorm life affairs.
Especially NOW since Tiff is on the “party” end of the dorm.
I Love Puddles in this strip, listening in. Well, Luann, you DO need to be lectured because you have shown very poor judgment, lack of common sense and respect. The more people lecture you, the more emphasis on your poor behavior, the more you remember it and less likely to repeat/offend. Hopefully, this rounds back to your mother and she has a stern talk with you about it. Nobody likes it when their moms lecture you especially when you consider yourself an adult at 20. In this instance, you might think you are an adult but you are still very much a high schooler. So, yes, you do need a lecture.
I said at the beginning of this arc that Bernice wanted Luann to go out and do the dirty work, and Bern would be all “shocked” and tell Lu how wrong she was——-then she’d ask Lu for all the dirty details.
Oh, and Luann? If you know friendships are built on trust and respect, then why did you betray your good friend Gunther’s trust by snooping and prying into his very personal business? Not very respectful. AND———you didn’t even really apologize. You’re just sorry you didn’t find out what you wanted to know.
I’m sorry folks. This subject matter is normal human curiosity – but yes – you’re #€!*ed if word gets out that that you were asking. Luann is still emotionally involved with Gunther, so much that Luann ran into The Fuse kitchen to see Les, and didn’t think about anybody hearing the discussion. I still call it anxiety combined with carelessness – not the evil that some claim. Many Luann blog contributors are savoring that Luann is getting punished for not taking Gunther in as a boyfriend. True Luann was mean to Gunther In her early to mid teens – shallow mean girls were the norm at the time. But more recently Luann has been a friend. In the recent arc where Luann & Gunth were in his room at the gulag – some say Luann could have made the move and taken him in. However I remember that Gunther’s main concern seemed to be that Les would know Gunth had a girl in his room, damaging Gunther’s “reputation.” If Luann & Gunther are destined to connect- Gunther has to do better than that…
Where did these last few weeks bring us? It’s no news that Bernice is a judgemental, condescending hypocrite. I am a little surprised (and kind of disgusted) at the sad depth of Luann’s immaturity. And although Gunther impressed me with his frank confrontation with Luann, I’m afraid that Gunther’s backbone is under the control of Bets, the social media producer. I agree with the many others who have said it: Let’s go visit someone else next week…PLEASE.
You don’t need a lecture? You ought to have told that to Bernice decades ago. Maybe then she would’ve tried to stop being such an obnoxious friend and irritating character.
Mmmmmm… okay… so that’s the last we see of the Bets n’ Gun show for now. Them cuddling on the beanbag chair, talking, and… unfortunately, Bets taking yet another pic for social media. That girl needs to get her addiction under control. But, I’m imagining them turning the lights down low, and slapping on some classic tunes… “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Feels Like the First Time”, “I Want to Know What Love Is”, “To Be With You”, “In Your Eyes”… uhhhhh have I given away my age?
Never did believe that Luann would really find out if Gunther and Bets were indeed “doing it.” There are so many dangling participle’s in this arc, which I contend is just part of a series of arcs, that we can leave to our own projections what the meaning was. I still contend that Luann wanted to do a selfie with Gunther last panel, maybe for good reason, but phone photos are capable of being instantly all over, so maybe it was best. Funny Bern’s reaction, pure human nature.

Well, here she is now over 18, and if still far from knowing everything. Like keeping her nose out of things it should not be in. Then, she would not be in this mess now…
The Ask Amy column had a letter on Friday that sounded like it could have been written by Bets. The letter writer couldn’t post any photos of her BF on Instagram and she felt empty and sad when she saw photos of her friends and their BFs on social media. Most of the commenters agreed she was shallow and immature.
That Bernice Halper is a nosy hypocrite!? However, Luann looks like someone who has learned the lesson. She looks regretful and humiliated. Good for her♡.
With today’s strip it looks like Greg is calling a halt to the subtexts of: 1) Whether or not G&B are doing “it.” Remember, he has said in interviews he would never directly address the issue of sexual activity. Although there were some interesting hints here. And, 2) Bets’ neurotic need of exposing every aspect of their relationship on social media and its effect on Gunther’s sense of privacy.
Greg’s done this rather cleverly by bookending the arc with Bernice’s unresolved inquisitiveness. Compare the last panel of Jan. 11th with today’s last.
And it appears that the relationships among all the character’s basically remain unaltered.
We all like Luann. But in this case she was WRONG! Berniece will always be Berniece and Bets needs help. This was a good arc. But I’m looking forward to something else now.

Wow, I never thought I’d say/think this, but I’m getting pretty tired of this strip. Used to be I couldn’t wait to see what was going on with Luann et al, but now I’m like, meh.
So if the issue of who is “doing it” shows up again – it might be something like Tara telling Luann she is pregnant. I don’t think this strip would entertain an abortion – so it would likely be Tara going home to her parents – and showing up later on with a kid, and we would see a much more serious Tara.
If the question about Gun & Bets is to be answered, it could be tastefully done with Gunther in PJs and Bets in a robe eating breakfast. Gunther ventures to ask, “I love our private time, Bets. Can we give Instagram a rest?”
Looking back Gunther seems to be the one character most likely to be devirginalized! It’s been hinted since middle school that Gunther has romantic and sexual “assets.” Thee have been naked encounters at the library, “WOW” kisses he gave to Lu and Bern, Quill’s late night accusation after a late return from an encounter with Tiff, on and on. The Peru trip with his True Love caused weeks of speculation. Bets’ nickname. Gun’s response to mama. On and on.

Ok so it was clever booking this arc Bern &lu comedy routine speculating about Gunthers sex life…. Not to be confused with Bud & Lou. However i would have rather sren where Gunther would have discussed with Bets her need to share their relationship with entire social media world. She definitely has a double standard. She got mad at Gunther for always being on the phone during their dates with other people I evil and and yet she is always on the phone taking pictures and sharing them with her thousands and thousands of fans.

Ironically I was wondering if at some point it was going to be bet that ended up is Tiffany’s new roommate. I want to know what happened when the mean loooking inspector lady came over to see the remodeling Brad and Toni had done to make a room for Shannon. What happened to that storyline? It was quite awhile ago and they just dropped it and left it a cliffhanger.
Bern is a bit more adept at intel gathering. You don’t go right up to “it” and “step in it”; you walk carefully around to see what you can glean w/o being detected.
I am curious about all the people complaining about how boring the strip is now. Was it more exciting to you at some point? If not, why are you so dedicated to continuing to read it? Surely there are strips out there that would cater to you need for more excitement. To each their own. I personally don’t find every single strip earth shattering but always worth reading. This arc shows character personality growths. A new character is being more fleshed out. Impending conflicts, personality clashes, real life stuff is happening or about to happen. Stories don’t always happen as we want them to but if they weren’t good we wouldn’t keep reading them, would we? The story and its pace is up the the cartoonist/writer. We just have to deal. Unless we quit reading it, in which case, we don’t.
Hmmm interesting. Bernice is mad at Luann for being so nosy into Gunther and Bets love/sex life. But what does she do? Wants to know what info Luann got, all while trying to subtly maintain her “moral superiority.”
