Exercising is Jack’s favorite topic? I thought his favorite topic was the ownership and care of pets.

Glad to see the conversation start off with Jack involved. I wonder how long it will continue.

Sounds like Br’er Ben is starting to make things a bit uncomfortable for his sister. Good man!

Why is Ben bringing up the thin walls?

Guys are so straightforward, and get to the point quickly. I’ve always liked that about guys.

Don’t run away Bernice. This is the info you wanted. Don’t spend all this time whining about Jack and Luann if you can’t put on your big girl pants when you’re about to get your answers.

Yeah, that’s the ticket – embarrassing your sister with a double entendre “thin walls”.

I like Jack: very straightforward & upfront. Many of the characters in this strip could learn from him.

“Hey you three.”

“But first, I gotta get My coat. I think I left it at the Fuse the last time I was there!”

Now, what we have here is a “gaffe”/ intended to make us laugh/ her brother’s an oaf/ one slice short of a loaf/ and she is too up tight, by half.

But since Jack was not there, telling him someone was in Luann’ s room is betraying Luann and pc spreading rumors.

Yeah, one of the first topics you bring up in a conversation with some flathead you just met is how thin your sister’s bedroom walls are.

I am assuming that all these panels with the walk with Bernice and Ben is all happening in one evening. With this timeline Tara hadn’t been to the Fuse yet, so we don’t know how she will behave. Will she Rob them blind or be respectful and leave her little plant of horrors when she leaves. ( Private pun for Mordy)

Ok, is Ben going to tell Jack everything they just talked about to teach her a lesson?

So Jack must be thinking that Ben is a rather weird individual since he has no idea what Ben is talking about but probably has the impression that Bernice is rather uncomfortable and wants to get out of there ASAP!

Even if Jack says he wasn’t in Luann’s room last night, Bernice won’t believe him. She’s convinced they were together and won’t stop thinking that until she finds out it was Tara.

Bernice’s problem = Cowardice

Would it be too much to ask for a storyline where the action didn’t depend on the characters behaving like lying four-year olds? Ben is doing his best to be an adult but most of the characters won’t communicate (because the reason for conflict/plot would immediately fall apart).

Little ditty, about Jack and Luann.

Go Ben! Ask and clear all doubts! And, in the first panel, Jack seems pretty happy/amused/interested to know that Bernice was talking about him ♡♡♡. Too bad that her shyness (plus the shame of having thought everything she thought between Jack and Luann) push Bernice to cut the conversation and run away, dragging her brother with her. I kinda hope they stay and continue the chat with Jack. But Ben doesn’t seem like the type to insist if his sister is visibly embarrassed.

Yep, super thin bedroom walls and so it goes on…on…on.

Bern was making assumptions about Jack to Ben without real evidence (which is unfair) and Ben knew this. While it may seem insensitive of Ben to ask Jack in this straightforward manner (like it seems he is about to do), Bern has (sort of) set herself up for this. She also even suggested that Ben go on some kind of intel gathering (while exercising with Ben). OK so now Ben is following through. The beans are about to spill; apple carts are tipping over. hilarity is about to ensue.

They should really just rename this strip “Bernice” at this point.

I thought Bernice was eager to find out about Jack and Luann. Now she balks at the opportunity. What a chicken she is.

It seems like this has been going on for months. This arc is worse than COVID!

Ok, Bernice is being portrayed today by " The cowardly girl who cant take a hint". If I was Ben I wouldnt evem listen to her whining anymore. If she cant get over herself and get a life then she deserves what she gets.

Lol! Lots going on today. Meet and greet and toss out a line that peaks Jack’s interest and Bernice wants to avoid. Have to wonder what Jack thinks of the thin bedroom walls comment and how it involves him!

Used to be Jack and Nil were inseparable. It looks like Nil has been “eliminated”?

Jack is the hot man on campus but is is very boring all the girls fall to feet.

Now jack is confused and maybe he will go away thinking something entirely different. For all he knows (based on Ben’s comment) Bern could be planning to have Jack over and was checking for wall thinness to make sure Luann wouldn’t hear.

And this twit wants to be a psychologist?

YE GADS!!! How annoying! Jack (who bear a strong resemblance to Jack La Lane…I know I misspelled that probably) – only wants to talk about exercising. He has become so incredibly boring and one-track minded it’s getting really REALLY old! He has had several opportunities to chat up a cute girl and all he does is flex his pecks and stretch his loins. What a shallow jock-head. Does he have nothing else to talk about?? I think he’s obsessed with his own body to the point of not even noticing the girls. Maybe he and Ben can go get a beer.

And BERNICE…well she might as well be portrayed as a jack rabbit leaping into the bushes because she over reacts to any and all situations to the point of being ridiculous. ENOUGH already. I think the writers can call the pigeon-holing of these two characters a roaring success and move on to something else. please

Shyness is still a thing! Some never grow out of it. It is a sign of humility, not a bad virtue to have. She’ll come around once she spends a little more time with him seeing him as a person, not an object of adornment.

Ben is participating in the time-honored practice of sibling embarrassment…. Fortunately, I’m an only child.

Look, lets face facts…

Bernice wants Jack, but she just can’t face up to it.

Several commenters here seem to consider Ben’s questions startlingly direct. I see things differently.

In panel 2, Ben mentions Luann and asks Jack, “Do you know her?” Taken at face value, the implication is that Ben doesn’t even know whether Jack even met Luann, much less whether Jack has ever been to Luann’s house to visit either Luann or Bernice either during the day or at night. But of course the question does offer Jack the opportunity to reply with something like, “Yeah. She’s my girlfriend” or “I’m her boyfriend” or, alternatively, with something like, “Yeah. She’s the one who introduced me to this classy lady” (gesturing at Bernice).

Under the assumption—established, as I said, in panel 2—that Ben doesn’t know whether Jack has even met Luann, Ben’s question to Bernice in panel 3 can hardly be seen as a direct question to Jack about whether he and Luann have been engaged in clandestine nocturnal activities. But of course it does give Ben (and Bern) a chance to see whether Jack shows any sign of being perturbed at the thought that Bernice might have overheard such activities if they in fact occurred (which we know they didn’t).

I wonder whatever happened to Luann1212?

Late comment, got busy, and frankly saw the 4 feet of snow in my backyard and turned back to bed. This is a setup set of panels, done with hilarity ensuing, neatly separating Luann who is possibly rushing off to see about something with Tara, while Lo and Behold, Bernice encounters the object of her consternation and unjustified anger towards Luann. So what is going to happen now? I hope Jack is interested enough to leave room if her embarrassment caves a bit. Ben will help because he is the life-experienced calm sibling. Should be fun.

Enough of this conversation. On to Tara!

What I like most about today’s strip is that Bern seems to be laughing and not angry despite that Ben is revealing her suspicions regarding Jack. She’s taking it in a light hearted way at least in front of Jack.

Poor Jack. I think this isn’t going to be a very good week for him.
