Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Lately I have been engaging them in discussions about what a better job for them would be. I usually start out by saying that they seem to be talented at phone work (this is only for those who are genial, personable and intelligent) and then tell them a bit about my experiences and successes and, mainly, salaries doing marketing phone work, where you just do surveys to get opinions. :D they wind up thanking me profusely and we part, both happy.
I get that telemarketers can be annoying. However, try to remember they are people trying to make a living.Iâve done telemarketing myself, during desperate times. Itâs not easy work, and management often treats you dirt.
I work in a school computer lab. The kids like to put on the headsets and talk into the microphones as if theyâre fighter pilots or something. I tell them they look like telemarketers. That tends to quiet them down.
All proceeds to go to a charity for the clueless. Seriously, there are always other jobs â floor cleaning, mob debt collector, nuclear reactor polisher â any other job.
Of course I get the âexpired car warrantyâ shtick. Also I get calls from âInternal Revenue Servicesâ (not the IRS; they never phone you), or âcredit card servicesâ (same thing; my CC balance is zero anyway). Be aware of these little nuances.
No, as to actual humans telemarketing maybe, I could (with a Sicilian accent) say âThis is Tony Di Lucca. Who dâya want popped?â Or just mutter gibberish, and see how soon they hang up. (Iâm assuming theyâve heard it all anyway). I like the CIA thing.
In the context of âIf I could have any superpowerâ I often think it would be nice to be able to mete out swift justice on scammers. They make me hate my phone and email.

Every once in awhile I listen long enough to get an actual human, at which point I cheerfully invite them to eat (you know what) and die in agony.

While not a complete cure, I signed upo for the Federal âDo Not Callâ list, and that seems to have cut down on calls quite a bit.

One could easily change out telemarketers for âtextersâ, âlawyersâ, âhelpline workersâ, âRachael from Card Holder Servicesâ ⊠etc.

How many telemarketers does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but it has to be at meal time.

Where did they find a 10K Cliff?
Even the Grand Canyon is only 6,000 feet deep at its deepest point. Thatâs only 1.8K.
iGrumpy over 2 years ago
The Grand Canyon would certainly get the job done. ⊠Leaving cleaning up the mess. âŠBut composting agriculture and the environment would benefit.
