I thought that the joke was a reference to racist minstrel shows. Then I got it.

In yesterday’s Pickles strip I commented that I could not sew on a button because I am a man and cannot mend straight. No replies, likes or otherwise.

True story.. when I was a kid my kid step brother was asking stupid questions in his usual annoying way, the adult ladies were talking and he piped up “what’s a period?” To which I immediately replied “it’s the dot at the end of a sentence.”

I knew a woman once who traded her menstrual cycle for a Harley, and soon she couldn’t ride it…

This is Pastis’ worst word play yet. Period.
