I know at least one dog who takes his walk carrying his own leash. And his own poo bag. Of course my friend is walking along right there, but Diamond carries his own leash!
There is a leash law here. No dog outside the yard without a leash. If police were to see a dog walking was broken. wonder if that would make the news.
How about, in the post Halloween sales, pick up a lower arm with a sleeve, the hand glued to the leash, maybe simulated blood and bone exposed on the other end?
I wonder what my dogs would do if I put their leashes on them & shoved them out the front door. Stand there looking puzzled or take off? If another dog walked by, definitely the latter.
If my wife was late taking the Chihuahua we had about 30 years ago for his daily walk he would take one of the tunnels he had dug under our back yard fence(he had a doggy door so went in and out of the back yard on his own) and walk the same route she took every day. Then when he would get back to the house he could never find his tunnel so would wait on the front porch until someone would open the door and let him in
I’ve known dogs responsible enough to walk around alone, although I’m overprotective and I don’t think it’s a good idea for a lot of reasons, but no one was able to clean up after themselves.
This reminds me of my dad minus the leash, he let the dog out to run around. Parent’s never took dog to vet either. My daughter not that way, she would have dog on leash for a walk. Not strip related. From my lower hip injury recovering from a break, remember no cast or surgery area has to heal on its own. Pt states 3 weeks early, I am thinking October out patient therapy. I am being weaned off of the wheelchair, using walker, also slowly which way to use my left injured hip and leg down 8 steps then up 8 steps, walking around the house, compared to what I have done, this is very baby steps. By evening my left hip is complaining bad, my left hip down to my toes swollen and stiff. Also had to put away my stay fit indoor skier, she never seen one of those, my daughter up here, told her I am able to work those, now has to wait, not what is left of this year, not certain of next year, when I do baby steps.

If a self driving car is possible, then why not a self walking dog?

sooner or later, Earl is going to get a phone call from some neighbor asking if he has lost Roscoe

Given his age, he needs a fenced back yard.

Poor Roscoe!

Sorry, Roscoe, but city bylaws clearly state that you can’t go unleashed.

When Opal finds out about this from the neighbors, she might put a leash on Earl and make HIM take a walk like that. Just deserts.

Back when I was running around the neighborhood, all of the dogs were self-walking. Leash laws? Pfffft.

While you’re at it, Earl, put your Fitbit on Roscoe’s wagging tail, and get those steps in for your health insurance discount.

Earl better hope that Roscoe doesn’t get picked up by Animal Control!

Had a neighbor whose dog grabbed the leash and “helped” walk himself.

Never miss an opportunity to spend time with your pup (and other pets). They’re only here for a short time.

Reason #8 to have a cat. Ya don’t have to walk ’em.

I’ve seen a few dogs doing this, but their human was walking with them.

We had a dog who liked to take some of the leash in his mouth when we walked him.
iggyman about 2 years ago
Here he would be picked up and the collar info would be used to return him home!

Years ago I had a boxer and on our walks he would grab the leash with his mouth so he would be in control.

Coward!!! I just had one of THE worst colds of my life for two full weeks! I took my dogs for walks JUST as long as before. Dogs > my comfort.
