Excuse the political ref., but just read that avocados take an incredible amount of water to grow.. so in between that and interference in the avocado industry by corrupt forces where most are grown in Mexico, some locals there have actually outlawed avocado growth in their territory. Let that guide your behavior as you will ;)
I used to work with a gal whose husband “couldn’t stand” sour cream. If he was hanging around the kitchen, she wouldn’t put it in the mashed potatoes, and he’d complain they didn’t taste as good as usual. The one time he caught her putting sour cream in the potatoes he flat out refused to even touch them. “You know I can’t stand sour cream. Don’t ever do that again.”
We went to a party once where they were serving fried calamari. I told my wife to try the onion rings, they’re really good. She didn’t really care for that joke, but we still laugh about it.
My kid couldn’t STAND mushrooms or tomatoes from a very early age. But he was quite fond of spaghetti with marinara, and loved the occasional times when we made stroganoff. I’m okay w/ avocados, but I prefer whack-a-moe-aye.
At an early age, my sons informed me that they didn’t like broccoli. I asked them about the “little trees” they liked to eat. Oh, yeah, they really liked those. Many years later, they accused me of being a “sneak”. Hahaha!

Was it Daffy Duck or Sylvester the Cat who used to sing “Sunrise on Lake Guacamole?”

Next, it will be squid or calamari. Snails or Escargot.

Poor sweet, ignorant Earl! In his defense: a lot of the time, perception is just as important as taste or mouthfeel.

It was actually guacamole that first got me to realize that avocados were really good by themselves. Who knew?

In the early 1960s the avocado industry was doing poorly. Some farmers went bankrupt. And then the Super Bowl came along.
