You can’t reward this behavior, or you’ll be in their paws forever after.
That’s why I never give my cat treats when she follows me into the kitchen, because she knows the treats are there, and sits, staring, anticipating, while I eat.
If I do that, she’ll expect it every time, so I turn my heart into cold, hard stone.
I give her treats 5 minutes later, when she can’t associate one thing with the other any more.
My dog likes to take over the recliner if I get up, and has a pitiful expression pn his face when I come back and move him!, Then he gives me cuddles anyway!

My dog always gets the last bite unless it’s something he can’t have, like chocolate.

Interesting philosophy Earl, considering that Opal doesn’t reward bad husband behavior.

Clever subterfuge on the part of the dog.

This was never a problem for us, for we trained our dogs to never be allowed on the furniture or in the kitchen. Momma was adamant about that.
