What’s the big deal? If it’s up and you want it down, put it down. If it’s down and you want it up, put it up. Toilet seats are not difficult to move.

I put the lid as well as the seat down when my toilet is not in use. It looks better and is just as inconvenient for everyone. Besides, both men and women have hands.

Closing both lids prevents makes the most sense. No aerosolized toilet water spread around the room, pets drinking from it, nor accidentally dropping something in it.

Why is this a problem? If the seat and Lid are down, You’re going have to check the toilet and raise the Lid before using. The thing is you have to check before using. So if the Lid and the seat are up, You still have to check before using. If you don’t check you you would be sitting on the Lid, or sitting on the rim. Then there’s the new fad of women who like to Hover over the toilet, is that (a) Lid up, seat down or (b) Lid up, seat up

I’ve had women get mad at me when I’ve opened a door for them, but then they get mad about the position of a toilet seat.

It’s funny that women demand equality with men (which I believe that have by divine right), but apparently only when it suits them.

I’ve never seen a woman walk into the bathroom backwards, so surly you ladies are not “surprised” by the seat being up.

If the seat is up, rather than getting emotional maybe you could use a little bit of your awesome “girl power” and push it down. After all, if a man can do it then it can’t be that difficult…. am I right ladies?

Maybe you ladies should start leaving the seat up for the love of your life and quit expecting special treatment. Is marriage an equal 50/50 arrangement or not?

You know we could avoid this whole argument altogether if we just leave the seat down all the time. Am I right guys? Guys… GUYS……. bunch of wimps!

It’s particularly annoying to be rudely awakened at 3:24AM by a blood-curdling scream from the bathroom. (She fell in-or partially anyway) Followed by the realization that you won’t be allowed to go back to sleep before listening to a lecture followed by you apologizing 6 or 10 times.

Women can be a jerks because it’s a “gal thing” but men get put on “double secret probation” the slightest infraction?

Maybe the guy wanting a sex change is on to something? You still have the larger brain, but you get to start taking advantage of the “gal thing”. Talk about having your cake and eating it to… unless you’re trying to slim down to fit into the bikini.

Janis, it’s that whole EQUAL RIGHTS thing. Men are expected to ensure the toilet seat is in the proper position before use, women claiming to be EQUAL need to live your words.

A person ensuring that the toilet seat is constantly in the position you desire would imply that you, as a woman, aren’t mature enough, intelligent enough, responsible enough, to handle a simple situation like that.

In a household with equal parts male & female, there should be no need for changing the seat for someone else. If the household has more females it’s polite to put the seat down as chances are a female will be next to use it. Alternatively, everyone could put the seat and lid down.

Public co-ed toilets usually don’t have lids. I’m left with a choice of lifting a seat that has been used by numerous other people, or being a ‘sharpshooter’ and leaving the seat down. If I leave it up, then at least the next person knows I haven’t left a liquid souvenir behind for them to sit on.

I have decided that, for all-gender bathrooms, the seat should be left up at all times. It’s not a big deal to lower the seat if needed and it will discourage lazy guys from whizzing and expecting to miss the seat and get “nothing but air.”

Women need the seat down 100% of time. Men at least once daily need the seat down too, unless they have mastered pooping standing up. And unless the vision of seat up is aesthetically appealing, then seat should be down. However the dog votes to leave seat up, thereby making drinking easier.

There’s a 50% chance that the next person to use the bathroom is a man. That means that I would have to touch the toilet seat and so would the next guy. So the original premise is 100% wrong. And secondly, if you want women to have equal rights, you better get used to touching a toilet seat.

Women get upset about a little pee on the seat, yet they are absolutely the filthiest creatures when using public toilets. I have worked in markets, grocery stores and restaurants during my life and I have never cleaned a men’s room that was anywhere near as nasty as the ladies. Not only do they stand or squat when urinating they do as well while defecating which means it goes all over the seat and in the floor as well. And oftentimes they will leave their sanitary items in the toilet or floor instead of the provided container. I very much disliked having to clean up after such nasty pigs, as would any of you.

I live alone, was married for many years and still lift the seat.

With all this talk of spouses being polite to other spuse with bathroom stuff, how about this- why can’t spouses be polite enough to put a fresh roll of toilet paper on the roller when they almost finish the other one? My ex husband was in agreement with me that both the seat and lid go down at all times but he had a problem with putting new toilet paper on roller, I had lost count of the almost 23 years we were married, he walked out on me 3 weeks before our 23rd, that I went in the bathroom after him and there were only 2 or 3 squares left on the roller, it was a good thing I keep extra rolls in the sink bottom cabinet next to toilets in both bathrooms. Ig I almost finished the roll I would put a new roll on and put the old one on top of new one to finish it.

50 years ago when I was in college, there was an advice column in the campus newspaper on Womens Liberation, which was a big subject of the day. Someone asked about toilet seats. The response was that it was an insult to women to think that they were incapable of adjusting a toilet seat to suit their needs.

I try to be extra nice and put the lid down (well what else is it for?) so the FEMALE cat we have won’t be drinking out of it and dripping it on the seat but that doesn’t satisfy my wife at all. So I told her, if there is a wet seat it is NOT me, it’s your little friend who drinks out of the toilet.
