Turn off all the lights, draw the curtains, and open the door with a screen. The bug will be attracted to the light. When you can see/hear it buzzing… open the door and scoot it out. This has always worked for me. Then I can do other things until the bug gets the idea.

My mom once used a broom to try and shoo the neighbors’ cat back home. He started rubbing on the broom instead. I think Jules has been hanging around the cats too long.

The storm may be over at the Big Pink House, but we have quite the lightning show and heavy rain going on outside now! My yard and trees need the rain. I’m not complaining.

    Off topic:

I have been thinking about mortality lately. Mom’s passing, Ladykat’s loss, the virus, etc… Undoubtedly, there are more days behind for me than remain in front. I seriously doubt I can make it to 115 years old, nor would I want to live that long.

The people here on this orb are genuinely good people. Many of them offer prayers of support and I think that is very nice. You may note, however, that I do not. Mom was raised Catholic, but fell away from the church. I went to a Jesuit University but never embraced the religion. I studied, or at least read about, most of the major religions, i.e., Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism but never found one that I thought I could join without being a hypocrite.

If you believe, if your beliefs give you comfort, then I am sincerely happy for you.

Of all those religions, all those beliefs, the one that always pops into my mind when somebody dies, is a quote from a puppet in a movie franchise. I thought of this when Mom died, I thought of this with Ladykat’s announcement. It seems to give me the comfort I seek:

Death is a natural part of life.

Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force.

    Mourn them do not.

    Miss them do not.

OT, but in a good way.

I went out to try to see the comet. Our trees are a bit too high all around, but my partner swears we saw it through a gap between trees even though it just looked like a blur to me. BUT, I saw fireflies for the first time in forever. (I’m not usually awake that late in the evening.) Even though seeing a blur doesn’t make me feel like I saw the comet, seeing the fireflies made me happy.

My guess is July bugs, like many insects are phototropic, which means it’s a lot easier to get them to move when the light is off. (I think this one doesn’t work at all). A hummingbird got “stuck” in my utility room because the room had a skylight panel. It kept going up instead of out the door, where it came in. I finally climbed on the roof and covered the skylight with a tarp. The hummingbird was gone minutes later.

OT: Young Tiger learned that there will be no disability pride parades this year due to Covid. How sad, he would have loved to join a parade proudly carrying his first kill, a bird from our neighbour’s garden. Or make that the fish head he “found” in the rubbish, that is more politically correct, yes, he taught himself how to open the bin. He is also quite good at hunting food off the table. So Tripod Tiger, a tree climbing cat, sends his love and admiration to Puck, excellent climber and teacher of kittens. And to Lupin, who like so many cats with a disability does have an exciting life, full of adventure. And to Elvis of course who reminds Tiger of granddad Henry.

Great perspective Georgia (both drawing & emotionally)! I can relate, I took 2 spiders out of the house yesterday & put them in the yard. ;D Setting them free felt nice but I was nervous… one of them was large & I could see his eyes watching my every move! =O___O=

How can the heart be so empty and so full at the same time? Half of you isn’t attached any more; it’s been ripped from your being. You bleed, a scar will form. And yet we have hope of being re-united again, more completely than ever, and that hope is what carries us through when the burden is too great for us. Be at peace!
