Sorry Puck, you are not invisible unless it’s very dark. (Of course, if it’s dark enough, everyone’s invisible!) Leave the invisibility to Lupin.

I’ve seen that attempted steal all too often. `you’re nowhere as stealthy as you think you are, kiddo!’

Puck’s orange eye through the water glass makes him look quite noticeable.Did he skedaddle off the table after his vain but valiant effort ?

Lupin is, I think, entirely too cheerful about this. His invisibility crown remains unchallenged!

OT We finally had to let our little cat, Cleo, go. We were adopted by her 18 years ago. She was a dilute tortie who wandered into our lives from the wild. She was affectionate, loved sitting in our laps and was a mighty hunter. So she joins so many of our pets in the great beyond after a life well lived. Love you, Cleo.

Makes me think of meals here. On one side of where I eat is a cat tower. Like a vulture waiting for food to stop fighting… one cat will sit on high and watch me. In the mean time… the other cat will come along on the other side of me and stab her claws into my leg. As I go for band-aids… both will pounce on my food. Someone prove to me these are “Dumb Animals” who have not learned how to plot together!!

Atta boy, Puck. I knew you would embrace the wild side sooner or later and try to steal hyooman food. I’m proud of you, my boy.

Now see, Puck needs to take a lesson from my late house panther Bagheera. He’d actually lay on dark-colored things like he expected them to camouflage him. Lupin should also teach Puck the art of invisibility.

Once I snuck food and it was a gas

Soon turned out my eye was big in the glass

Seemed like the real thing, only to find

Mucho mistrust, like I’m committing some crime

Once I snuck food and it was divine

Soon found out that the People do mind

It seemed like the real thing, but no one was kind

Mucho mistrust, ‘cause they think it’s a crime

    In between

What I find is pleasing and I’m feeling fine

Stealing is confusing, but it’s my time to shine

If I fear I’m losing food it’s just no good

    You yelling like you do

Once I snuck food and it was a gas

Soon turned out People were a pain in the a**

Seemed like I was so close, only to find

    Mucho mistrust, I’m way behind

    Lost inside

Adorable illusion and I cannot hide

I’m the one you’re shooing, please don’t push me aside

I coulda made it cruising, yeah

La, da, da, la, la, la, la, la, la, la (2x more)

Yeah, riding high on bacon’s true delight

    Ooh, oh, ooh, oh

    Ooh, oh, ooh, oh

    Today is:

International Day for Tolerance: Which means that everything must be done to a tolerance of 0.00005. Get out your micrometers and vernier calipers …

Of course, there’s the old engineering maxim: Measure with a micrometer. Mark with chalk. Cut with an ax. Beat into place. If it won’t fit, get a bigger hammer. Failure to embrace this maxim will not be tolerated …

(See, no politics, because they won’t be tolerated here.)

National Fast Food Day: Talk about an oxymoron. If you are doing a fast, you must eschew your food, thoroughly, and the best way to celebrate this day is by fasting. “Empty carbs” are anything but empty—they gain weight as soon as you take them in. Any manufactured food advertised as “low fat” often contains more “empty carbs,” i.e., sugar, and results in more fat around your middle. And have you ever noticed that the “serving size” for the calorie count of these “foods” is ridiculously small? A recent example: “Calories per serving: 190. Servings per container: 2 (about 1/2 cup). Total calories: 400.” What, are they including the container to get the missing 20 calories? Hork.

Have a Party with Your Bear: Yes, Gent, you are our bear, and you are invited. We will not be serving fast food—slow food only, so you won’t have to run it down.

National Button Day: Whatever you do, don’t push that button … “You don’t know what it’s hooked to, you don’t know what it does. Don’t push that button or we’ll be worse of than we was …”

I think it’s time for me to button it before you run out of tolerance …

I’m imagining Puck getting hit with the spray from a water pistol, then returning “fire” with his own, as he dashes away.

OK. I’m weird. today’s strip immediately reminded me of what I thought was a cool “5 second shot” In an Episode of Dead Like Me – George has her head on the restaurant booth’s table and is looking thru a glass of water. She’s been dropping pennies into the glass. The camera gets her distorted “fish eye” eye, and sense of being always outside looking in/only being an observer without being able to influence perfectly. I always loved the way the show was “shot” – the scene set up, the camera work, the actors and acting that they would spend so much time and effort for 5 seemingly mundane seconds (but that spoke volumes).

    What? I didn’t see a thing.

Seriously, I once had a cat run past and steal a pork chop off my plate so fast, I swear I never saw it, I just thought she was chasing something invisible to human eyes, as we’ve all seen cats do. Then suddenly I thought, hey, didn’t I have another pork chop here?

The funny part was, she was a kitten and the pork chop was as big as she was.

Ever watch that YouTube video (well, actually videos since the sequence appears on multiple video montages) with the cat who tries pretending he’s asleep so he can snatch the woman’s chicken leg? I get a kick out of his efforts to con her, but don’t understand why she doesn’t do the sensible thing and move the *************** plate! I mean seriously, he’s not gonna stop trying if she leaves the plate right there.

My cat used to do the same sort of thing, but it was with sitting on my dad’s lap. He tolerated cats but didn’t love them, so didn’t want her on his lap, but she wanted to make friends. So she would ever-so-slowly try to sneak onto his lap without noticing, slinking around the chair or tiptoeing down the armrest, usually taking 5-10 minutes on each attempt. Each time she put a paw on his lap she’d look at him to see if he’d “noticed” yet. Usually he’d acquiesce. It was cute.
