Umm, as much as I love Sir Fig, I’m not sure I can agree with him. Of course, he has not concept of the difficulty in finding and fixing roof leaks, or replacing an entire roof, or mold, or . . . well, you get the idea.
Now I’m trying to remember the layout of apartments and attic (and cursing Facebook and Instagram’s Log In Or Else policy). Either this is one of those insidious leaks that’s coming in “sideways” (as happened to the guest room at our old house) or there’re some soggy RCO reporters upstairs. Neither one would be very fun to have to fix!
We had to play the drip pot game ourselves a year or two (what even is time anymore) ago, though in our case it just turned out to be condensation from the underside of our skylight.
Ok, saw the neurosurgeon yesterday. He arranged an MRI for tonight (couple of hours from now). They are going to try to get him the results faster, if not, we’ll either have to stay a couple more days or we’ll consult via telephone.
Seeing my shoulder surgeon tomorrow, we’ll see what he has to say :)
I was hurting really bad the first couple of days, we think the plane ride tension was part of it :( I swear, I screamed when I got up off the couch or bed! Just going to have to take more powerful pain pills on the ride up and back, I think, we’ll discuss it with Dr. Juvvy when we get home. No other options to get me here. I won’t use the train (even if it were running) because the last time I was in pain for a week! Driving is out too, no way either of us can drive 7 or 8 hours!
And poor Jelly dog is refusing to eat, as usual sigh She’ll be fine, I’m sure Nana is giving her treats..
I remember two years of rain and storms like that when I was young until we finally saved enough to get a new roof. Does anyone have an idea how hard it is to line up the neck of a glass milk bottle with a dripping leak? What can I say? We were desperate and had run out of anything else to catch the leaks in…
Beatrixia: Here we are. Where should we begin our search?
Puckmosis: We have a clue in this scroll written Grand Vizier Whiskers:
“The wall by the pantry is in need of a bit of paint and spackle. I’ve spoken with Awhil-Fixit to about having the Royal Maintenance Team make the repairs.”
Puckmosis: Then he goes on:
“Awhil-Fixit and the Royal Maintenance Team have outdone themselves. Awhil signed his work with his trademark symbol. I think there was a doorway on that wall, but maybe not.”
Wally: So we should start by looking for the pantry.
Violet-Ifa: That may be a bit complicated. There were major renovations when King Katfre commissioned Hilary from Afar when he was deciding whether to love or list the pyramid.
Lupinium: Okay. If you wanted to have a pantry, where would you put it?
The high school where I taught has a flat roof that was leaking badly my first two years of teaching. The building was only 5 years old, but the contractor refused to remedy the problem claiming it was caused by a previous senior prank that involved sheep on the roof even though all sections of the roof were leaking, not just that one.
The worst problem wasn’t caused by rain but by melting snow that came leaking into classrooms soaking ceiling tiles until they would suddenly give way and splat to the floor without warning. The cafeteria was condemned, so students had to eat in the gym which was also leaking ruining the hardwood floor, but at at least things weren’t falling from the ceiling. Instead of having gym on slippery floors, playing cards were brought in and they held euchre tournaments. The music room was closed after one of the ceiling light fixtures fell barely missing a couple of students. Band and choir was held in the library. I had several leaks in my classroom. A huge metal trashcan under the worst leak. When we came back after Christmas break, the can had filled to the brim and was overflowing onto the floor.
Looks like a beautiful chorus, and you have to love the optimism of the ceiling cats. Rain on my windows sounds like small rocks, so it’s not the most relaxing sound.
Georgia’s cartoon is poignant for me. I worry about problems with the house that I cannot fix myself. Home repairs never used to bother me. I could fix any problem that would crop up in the house, be it electrical, plumbing, or structural. I was lucky and learned how to do all that at my father’s side and learned more doing that kind of work for years as a profession. Now, age and infirmity have interceded. My arthritis and bad knee keep me from doing the work without tremendous pain. I think I told you that I remodeled the kitchen last year. It was a success, but it about killed me doing it.
I have two bathrooms that need to be redone and would need to hire help to complete the task. Unfortunately, prices for remodeling have skyrocketed. I look at what companies charge these days for home repairs, and I am amazed; most of their prices are out of my range. Furthermore, it kills me to hire a person to do a job I have done many times over.
A few years ago before I had my roof redone I came home one night and my cupboard was leaking. It had been a pretty snowy winter and snow was melting and I think it was raining that night. Fortunately it stopped when the rain stop and all the ice and snow melted off the roof.
Funny comic as usual. And does anyone know here what premium does? And for those who have it, is it worth it? And what does following and stuff do. Just wondering, maybe I’ll get it, I have the spare money and enough time now to be commenting and stuff
I finally got my car back today! They couldn’t find any major problem with the brakes, but there was air in the lines. They flushed the line and replaced the brake fluid. They didn’t know how air got into the lines. I’m not confident that this is more than a temporary fix. If the brake light comes on again, I think I’m taking it somewhere else.
Good news on my jaguar’ s blood tests, I think. ! All are negative. No medical reason for his massive weight loss since Pepper died. Vet has concluded it’s grief. She said, " Don’t let him lose any more.". Well duh! Any suggestions? He is not allowed people food. The other 4 cats plus dog don’t need to gain. Small house so no real private feeding areas. All cats share a large feeder.
Our local Walmart got “upgraded” some years ago into a “supercenter.” (In quotes because it barely qualifies, and the upcoming story) The story goes that while the crew was roofing the building, illegal immigrants were discovered and deported—but it turns out they were the competent part of the crew. The rest of the job was shoddy, and now the roof leaks in multiple places in heavy rain; I’m sure snow is a problem too. You’ll see mop buckets, plastic bins, or giant trash cans under certain spots catching drips now. Apparently right afterward, though, was the worst leak—basically a waterfall coming through a duct in the electronic area (my sister worked in the vision center at the time)

Guy tells his friend, “It’s terrible, my roof leaks when it rains.”
“Why don’t you fix it?”
“Because it’s raining!”
“Fix when it’s not raining.”
“It doesn’t leak then.”

But when the drips cannot be controlled they will be DOOMED……or they can come downstairs and hang out with the downstairs crew.

Listen to the rhythm of the ploppin’ rain (ahh)
Showing us just how magical it sings (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
Still we wish that the floor had a big ol’ drain (ahh)
Stoppin’ damage those dings, pings and bings can bring (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
The only thing that’s missing is a Pucky chart (ahh)
Showing how the leaks can start (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
But little does he know that when he charts away (ahh)
Along with Fig, he warms my heart (pitter patter, rap-tap-tap)
