Hey, there’s some residual warmth and it is still a fuzzy blanket!

Lupin seems to have hit the jackpot. But I can’t help thinking… If Elvis was awake he’d be scolding Lupin for talking with his mouth full. LOL Also, I would have opted for ghost stories over fortunes being told.

Oo! Oo! I’ll tell Lupin’s fortune! I see more colorful designs on the blanket after Lupin tosses year-old pepperoni cookies all over it…

I wonder if Puck and Goldie know how to make a paper fortune teller? Or maybe the kids have a fortune telling fish lurking in their toy box?

“Lupin will meet with misfortune and be struck…”

“Goldie, you’re supposed to be making it up, not telling us what you’ll do…”

Hmmmn. Now, can I fortell the fate of those who eat old pizza from under the couch?

    Let Elvis sleep. It’s safer.

I have the perfect tarot deck for them: Tarot of the Cat People. When I need a laugh, I get out my ferret tarot. I never use it, just read the secret captions. My fave is on the Tower. It has a big bag of ferret chow tipping over, and ferrets flying off. The caption is, “Watch it, watch it, WATCH IT!”

Leave it to Lupin to find old pizza under the couch he fell off of. Cat of opportunity.

Just thought I’d check in this morning after our snow yesterday and all last night. It’s still snowing this morning. We probably got 6-7 inches so far, the wind gusts are ridiculous and I’m thinking we’ll get another couple inches today, at least. The warning is on until 11 tonight, we saw a transformer blow last night when we went to bed (it was actually beautiful! But the people behind us have no power now) and Beau had his first ‘real snow’ experience. He tried to spend as little time as possible on each foot. Too funny. But I think he’ll get the hang of it. He wanted to chase the deer moving through the yard, but they just turned their noses up at him and kept going. Hope everyone is good, you all have power since the comment count is low this morning. stay safe!

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

At the Happy Healthy Hospital Pyramid Kitten Ward

Dr. Salubria: Thank you, Broom-Sweepa and Bristle and Whisk. You made short work of cleaning up.

Broom-Sweepa: You’re quite welcome. Always glad to help out.

Whisk: And I made some new kitten friends.

Thomios: I’m sorry the pizza part got out of paw, Dr. Salubria.

Doc Sally: Call me Doc Sally. Actually, I’m delighted. Nothing I like more than seeing kittens on the mend and having fun.

Pink Lupinium: And now I’m off to the Salubrious Spa to bathe and chill. I’ll probably be back to my white fur until the summer. Unless there’s another tomato storm.

Doc Sally: Have a great time. See you at your next tumbling therapy session!

It’s nice to see Elvis sleeping and smiling. I suspect the pizza piece Lupin found is the piece of pizza that was on the blanket the other day. I really don’t think the Woman is that careless a housekeeper as to let pizza decompose or mummify under the couch.

O.T. Cold survival tips: With so much of the country being frozen, I wanted to share a tip I just saw on you tube. If your power fails when it’s dangerously cold and you can’t leave, the tip was to build a fort under a table. Put something like a blanket or a tarp over the table so the sides are covered. Then pile pillows etc. around the sides to enclose it and crawl in. Your body heat (especially if there are several of you plus cats) should warm it to a survival level. I also saw an unrelated ad for a heated sleeping bag that’s heated by a small battery and is good for about 12 hours. It’s for camping. I did not investigate so I don’t know the price but it’s an interesting thought. I would assume there are also electric blankets heated by a battery. Again, I don’t know if the price is equivalent to a new car but this does seem like a good thing if you’re where there’s a danger of power outages.

Well DUHHHHHHH!!!!! Where the heck do you think that humans learned the art of Hot Bunking from???

For you children and others who have never served in any branch of the military, Hot Bunking is where shifts are when one shift goes on duty, another shift gets off duty. Those coming on duty leave their bunk and their bunk mates coming off duty immediately crawl into that bunk for some sack time. It is mostly a navy and coast guard thing, but all branches of the service hot bunk in certain situations.

How old is that pizza, Lupin, and were you the one who put it under the couch in the first place? We never did see where the leftover piece the Woman left on a plate went…

Fifteen degrees outside and the cats are covering Marie on the couch. Even the dog, Iko, goes outside with reluctance. And, they say tomorrow and Monday will be worse.

Raining in Sacramento. 45 degrees F. JackJack woke me up to refresh his water. Took my BG (117, pretty darn good @ 9:30 PST), going back to sleep for another couple of hours. Made my own blanket cocoon.

    Go Chiefs!!

    OT: Kitty Playtime!

I just had the most delightful play session with Sara. She doesn’t move much. She was in her box, under the heat, by the door as I checked the mail slot. She rolled over to show her fluffy white belly and pawed at me. So I went over for our special playtime. I start rubbing her head as she grabs for my hand and arm. Then it’s rub the belly time as she rolls around grabbing at me with her front paws, gently kicking with her back paws, all the time biting me with her needle-like teeth. She tends to bite down and twist. But it’s all about playing so I endure it. As this continues, she will spin around on her back constantly as she kicks, paws and bites at me. It is truly one of the joys in any day for me, as well as for her I imagine. Surprisingly, Sara seldom draws any blood or scratches me deeply. She seems to know how far she can go without damaging her human. Gracie just sat on the back of my chair looking, hopelessly, for any birds that might fly by.

The last couple of weeks I have been having fun fooling around with AI illustration software on NightCafé and Bing Image Creator. Originally, I am doing it to generate period-flavored reference images for me to draw my original character in some fan fiction pieces. But, there are also themed challenges which I sometimes create something for, in hopes of winning more free credits to use on Night Café.

This one was on the theme of Kittens! So I tried a couple of calico kitten creations, which were kind of okay, so I entered one. The challenge is still open today, so I decided to make another try at “cute fluffy calico kitten”, this time throwing in a vintage radio in the background for visual interest. Well, I liked the result a lot— and she looks like she is listening to the radio, so I had a sudden inspiration.

Here she is, all ready by the radio, waiting for “Our IX Lives” to come on (shout out to Georgia Dunn included in the picture description): >
