Is the “apex predator” comment in reference to the kibble bin? Because I have jars of food from which I still can’t remove the lids. Pretty sure they have soundly defeated this hairless ape even with her opposable thumbs.
Trouble would have immediately knocked it off whatever surface it was on, then start beating it until the container was in shreds and the kibble set free . . . yes, he actually did something very much like this. NOTHING is safe from Trouble unless it’s behind adamantium steel and padlocked!
Ahhh, that’s how it starts! My cat Cassity would knock the treat bag(or jug)down, if I left it out on a high shelf, when he was a kitten…he will be 18 years old, next month…and he is still doing it!
We was once get fishes for them kits and hangs em high in plastic bag to gives it to em later. One of em kitty was jumps and jumps and steals fishy from the bag.
David Cattenborough – "Tupperware containers may look defenseless and yet they have a few tricks up their “sleeves.” They have one superb way of avoiding capture. And that is to do nothing. By remaining motionless and blending with the 1970s color patterning of the kitchen, they can hope to avoid the notice of apex predators intent on getting a midday snack. If detected, the second option is to hunker down and stand their ground, trying to withstand the brute force attacks of the smol predators."
Unless they get help, or the kibble container is almost empty, I don’t see much success for Ora Zella’s ferocious attacks or Iggy’s tentative tapping. If Elvis decides to help, however, all bets are off.
OT:Weather. I just now got my driveway opened up. My little snowblower had trouble with some of the depths, especially the plowman’s special. A second run down our street would eliminate that wall of snow they love to place at the edge of the road, and into our driveways. I was pleased though that the battery for my blower lasted the entire time. I still need to clear off my car etc, but I’m spent after that ordeal. LOL I’m also glad that we seldom get snows like this. Now the mail carrier, and others, can safely make it to my door. The girls’ kibble comes tomorrow. Not to mention a grocery run later this week. Even our trash pick up has been delayed 1 day. Good on them for telling us though.
Well, one is at any rate. The other is just a squishy love bug. KITTEN FANGS!!!! Now the kibble bin for my two is square and on the floor (hard to knock off or onto its side). The lid is the kind that locks in place on two sides. Diesel hasn’t figured out how to open it. Yet. And I have a “gasket” around the edge, giving it a tight seal. And no bugs can get to it. Or kittens…
Hope everyone who was and is in the path of winter storm Blair is doing well. On Sunday we had 8" of snow on ground. When I woke up yesterday it was measuring at 13". Love snow, but it wasn’t of caliber to make a snowman. Now we have bitter cold. Today is a warm 24 F with nights dropping into single digits. Friday we are expected to get more snow. Birds have been having a grand time at the feeders. I must be the only one around who is putting out food.
I keep the kibble bag in an open top container with a binder clip to hold it closed (sort of). My cats ignore the container until I feed them. Then they prance around it.

Elvis is, once again, absolutely correct! Apex predators, by definition, are very dangerous. I doubt the kibble bin can withstand them much longer!

Ora T-Rex Zella is on the loose. But I think Iggy’s lil tap, tap, tap is adorable.

Ora Zella needs to ask Santa for a jackhammer. Or maybe a nice block of C-4?

Where is Baby’s First Chainsaw? Never around when you need it?

Ora Zella won’t get into it that way. Her best bet is to knock it on its side and hope the lid pops off.

This is why I keep my cats’ food in a Rubbermaid bin. The bin I have will hold 3 bags worth of kibble.

Find the weak point, Iggy. Ora Zella’s brute force assault should never work…

Iggy’s tapping could reveal how much kibble is in the bin. Then how much force they could apply together to knock it over. They will do it!

Very dangerous. Zelda’s spinning prey never stands a chance. Especially when she has the cover of a cardboard box.

Apex Predators, indeed. Completely without fear or any self-preservation instincts.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Puckmosis: So you found the Space-Time Anemone Honey and met a group of Blossoms of Blessing.
Beatrixia: That’s right, Puck. And I can report with confidence our future families are doing alright.
Puckmosis: So what became of the jar of honey?
Bea: The Xanadu Hive has it now. What they’ll do with it remains to be seen.
Ora Z: I just learned the Papyrus Cat just delivered a huge container of kibble!
Puck: It probably should go to the kitchen. We can get Iggy, Wally, and Iron Glove to help move it.
Ora Z: It’s probably heavy. Shouldn’t we lighten the load a bit?
Puck: Let’s let Thomios and his crew take care of that.
