brad: ho ho ho! where's the tree?
mom: that's all i could manage this year.
luann: where's toni?
brad: she pulled a shift. where's quill?
luann: he pulled a pru.
Is this the day after the Fuse opening? If so, what time did Pru get back to the DeGroot’s house last night? And assuming there’s no repeat performance today (i.e., assuming Frank is the worst businessman in the history of theater), then exactly what are Quill and Pru doing together today? Putting furniture back into the Prop Room, maybe?
Jeez Luann, where’s the trust? You had it when Quill went home to Australia. You guys were separated by thousands of miles and skyped or emailed or called and he came back… to you. Even before the ‘boyfriend’ thing was more than a wish… You trusted him then, trust him now…
OK, Luann, consider this “advice from an old guy”:
First question: Has Quill earned your trust? If he has, then in the name of all that is holy..trust him. He’s going to work with women who are not you. If he’s worthy of your trust, it doesn’t matter than he’s working with a woman. It doesn’t matter what she does, because he’s not going to go for it.
If he hasn’t earned your trust by this time, then decide if you really want to go through life having a meltdown every time he’s near a woman and out of your sight. Your answer should be “no”. In the long run, the drama is never worth the good stuff
Oh the suspense!! Oh the theories!! Oh shoot!! We get built up to wondering what the hell is going to happen next in this arc (sorry for the profane word for sensitive types). All the more reason we follow this strip, it does this too us all the time, all of us Luann fans.
I can’t believe that this whole year is doomed to end with yet another disappointment. I expect tomorrow will be an explosion of happy surprises with everybody showing up for eggnog and loud singing and maybe even Rosa, who last year made a point of not caring about the holidays, Knute and Crystal will announce their engagement, Gunther will get kissed, and Quill will bring in his buddy, Pru, no longer dressed as a woman. Cheers to all.
It’s not that Luann mistrusts Quill.Luann mistrusts herself. She is afraid she can’t compete with Pru, the sophisticated Big City gal.Worst of all, she may be correct. Will Quill be true to his Pitts girl?
“Out Of Sight…”“Separation Anxiety”“Doctor, My Oz!” (♫)“Goodbye, Stranger” (♫)“Exile, Over Uneasy”“Since You’re Gone, I Took The Big Vacation” (♪)“Pru’s Gonna Drive You Home, Tonight?” (♪)“You Might Think” (♫)“Bye, Bye, Love” (♫)“Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of Pru” (♫)“Somewhere Not Here”“The Closest Long Distance Relationship”“10 Minutes Too Far”“Somewhere Across Town, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away” or“Goodnight, Mr..Calabash, Wherever You Are” (♪)
I dunno. the way this strip has been going, this may be just another feint, leaving us hanging in the air, while the story line starts somewhere else Saturday. .
“Amazon Box Christmas Tree?” Toni “pulling a shift?” Luann forgetting she has a car and backbone and not driving back to the “Bistro” and SURPRISING Pru and Pretty Boy?Looks Like the Grinch WON, this Year.
Now Lu, write down ALL the Questions You’ll no doubt have for Pru when she comes home at Daybreak but be just “a little too tired to answer right NOW.”
News flash………….this is a predictable misdirect……..Pru and Quill are doing something nice and thoughtful for Luann and her parents. Enough with the “i don’t trust quill” and “pru is this or that”. Jeez, already.
On the way to visiting family in the Carolinas, I think I saw at least one of them in Richmond, Va. (either a Bojo’s or Church’s). I wanted to go towards Raleigh or Charlotte, to have a look around, but didn’t have the time to stop all the places I wanted (they lived on the coast, just an hour away from Myrtle Beach). If they have a Bojo’s near there (Charlotte or Raleigh), I’ll plan ahead so we can “divert” there, for a bit, (heh, heh!) next time we can go down.
6I really think the “box” tree is funny and a fun way to show how busy their lives have been! A wonderful choice for Greg to make!In case BuckarooDave3 did not see my late comment yesterday, I concur with you about your idea of perhaps Quill will not stray but will grow tired of Luann’s jealousy! This would IMO be another great way to have Quill leave the comic and allow for Luann to grow more as a person herself and potentially find also a new boyfriend who could be a better match for her. I like your idea especially, because it allows both Quill and Luann to be true to their character, and yet still allows a Quill exit! Quill straying really does not seem in his typical character.
Seriously, what would you have her do? If she goes back to the Fuse and insists that she wants to be ‘part of the clean up’, she would look childish. If she goes back and insists that she and Quill need to talk, both Quill and many of the posters here would accuse her either of jealousy or possessiveness.
My hope is that she gets a note from Quill saying ‘good bye’, and her parents get a note from Prudence thanking them for letting her produce the world premier of her play, and announcing that she has been invited to stage it off Broadway, so ‘good bye’.
What can she really do? Everyone seemed on board with the idea of them caring for the Fuse (everyone except her, that is), including Quill. If she even were to say something about “why are you deciding to spend time helping her out, and not trying to spend it with me?”, that would be like trying to play a “Queen of Spades” on a “2 of Diamonds”, instead of saving it for a bigger book (if one were playing “Spades”, that is)… – She probably also figured that now wasn’t the time to “start a ruckus”, after the successful opening of the Fuse, plus, she couldn’t “argue” with the premise given. The big thing with her is just that she has a lot of “what ifs” in front of her, and it’ll bug her a lot, if she can’t get a “better read” on the whole situation…
I don’t know what your “quarters” are like, but don’t forget another “fun” event, “better than the World Series or Super Bowl”… the prepping for the I.R.S to say: “Is that all you got? You sure you don’t have some more, in there?”…
December 26 (the second day of the 12 Days of Christmas) is also St. Stephen’s Day, as made famous in the carol: “Good King Wenceslas looked out, on the Feast of Stephen,When the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even.”
“Luann isn’t even trying”Quill and Luann have barely even spoken to each other in many months, except for going out on Halloween. Neither of them is trying.
(froms, Schedules, paperwork, etc., and the whole 9 yards:) In-deed! – At least the trade off though, is that as long as the business is fruitful, you can “draw smiley faces on your own evaluation reports”, you’d win, hands down, at the company picnics… and ’team building" sessions should be lots of fun! And you can talk about the boss all you want…
“……….What are we having? I have a 28 pound turkey, two types of dressing, mashed potatoes made with white rose potatoes, several vegetable dishes, chicken – fried steaks (I have one that comes over that doesn’t do turkey), two types of gravy, deviled eggs, sweet potatoes, an antipasto tray, creamed peas, fresh – baked hotcross buns, fresh – baked zucchini bread, a pumpkin bread roll filled with a sweet cream cheese/Moscarpone cheese mixture, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, a whipped dessert with blueberries. fresh – baked cookies (I closed up early today and so far have baked 2 dozen sugar cookies, 5 dozen Mexican wedding cookies, am getting ready to bake some snickerdoodles and dark chocolate chip cookies), and I make my own french vanilla whipped cream with my Kitchen Aid pro mixer to put over the pies.
Tree in boxes. Fiancee working. Boyfriend philandering. No cookies or cocoa. Dog chasing neighbor cats. This is the kind of Christmas that makes for great family legends. Just add a ghost or two.
Well, the problem is that she’s stuck and she knows it. If she makes too much of a scene, it will interfere with the holidays or her parents project. but there’s only so much someone can take, and fortunately she’s not as alone in this as I was worried she would be.

You know what I’m starting to think…maybe Pru is helping Quill find Luann the perfect Christmas gift.

Quill and Pru are acting very suspicious, though. Of course, with all that buildup, it’s probably a red herring!

You know, we’re nuts. People are giving advice to characters in a cartoon strip?
Sometimes I bemoan the lack of empathy that humans show, other times we show too darn much.
That said, I can’t wait to see where this is going, either…
