How in the world is a girl with such a sociopathic background going to be worked into the strip? I think she’s already outdone anything that Les ever even contemplated.

TJ has previously shown how he can easily out-manipulate Ann Eiffel and render her harmless (as long as he’s around).

I wonder if Tara will end up out-conning Les?

Then we’ll have the big showdown sequel: Tara Meets TJ. In the streets of Los Angeles.

While I had been hoping to have the storyline return to Ann Eiffel and her supposed lingerie party, I think this could be an interesting development. How much will Luann let on to her new lab partner (obviously Tara will be Luann’s lab partner) that she knows about Tara’s past?

So who thinks that she’ll end up as Luann’s lab partner?? And why isn’t she serving time for all the theft and vandalism she committed?? 1st the unrealistic Ann Eiffel story..now this.. I’m thinking Greg doesn’t spend as much time on this strip as he used to ?!?

Well I didn’t want a new arc – but Geez – a major Babe walks into the story. Luann doesn’t have a partner for the experiment – so guess what. Hear what they say to each other and imagine what they’re thinking. Piro and/or Les could be involved in moving stolen goods – maybe at AE’s event. The whole thing could go Kablooie!

My wish has come true. This Tara Starr could easily be a younger niece of Dale Messick’s Brenda Starr comic strip character. Are we headed to a Brenda Starr crossover event?

Some of the posters get their wishes: a new female character, a chance to find out more about the TeeVee thief and another minority character. Meanwhile, I hope all our Texas posters are coming through the hurricane okay. Give us a shout when you can…

So Tara Starr was expelled from Moony U for theft and now is at the community college. A downgrade. Luann knows who she is and what will she do with the information?? That’s the question.

Everybody in class had better keep a good watch over their stuff. I guess the chances of her going with Starr – head just slimmed now that she was bumped from Moony Loony Toony Uni.

There are some very attractive older girls and women in the strip — Toni, Pru, Nancy, Ann.

But I rather think that Tara ties with Tiff for being the most attractive girls of Luann’s age.

If Tara hooks up with Les, they could be like Bonnie and Clyde partners and eventually get mowed down in a hail of bullets.

But another possibility is that they could turn out like Mattie and Ned in Body Heat. They seemed to be in love and partners in crime, until it finally became evident that she was plotting to do him in as well.

Wackazoid hypothesis:

Gunther hits it off with Tara, who has what it takes to finally bring him out of his shell.

Gunther gets off his high horse in telling Tiff who she should not date. So she hits it off with Les after all.

And the two couples live happily ever after.

So however many semesters in, and Luann finally takes her initial sciences class (unless she’s been in chemistry or physics until now, which I highly doubt.) Does this mean she’s finally gotten sick of wasting her parents’ money on endless repetitions of Professor Pretentious’s “What is art? Who knows?” brand of malarkey? About time she actually made some forward progress in her college career.

Wouldn’t she have been expelled for stealing?

Is it unsportsmanlike to say that >this< is the reason that I urged caution in the last couple of days about declaring what absolutely will or won’t happen in a comic strip that is being written by someone other than one’s self?

No bio class would start day 1 with a lab immediately. First day is always going over the syllabus (which nobody pays attention to until the prof says "its in the syllabus, you should have read it). You might do a lab later in the first day but if he is welcoming them, it obviously just started.

Her entry reminds me of the economical soap opera introduction, “I’m Emily Kimberly, the new hospital administrator.”

Why have so many flawed characters been introduced (reintroduced) lately?

What is Luann doing at Mooney? And why is she in a bio class as it is unrelated to her major? And I guess we don’t need to guess who her partner will be.

Question…Is Luann in Mooney or was the girl expelled from Mooney so she had no choice but to come to community college?

This is why in real life student academic file information is krpt completely private (FERPA; look it up.) Partial or incomplete data like B inappropriately provided L will lead to a hostile environment for this student. It is between the student and the disciplinary board what discipline takes place and is no one else’s business.

This scene would have had more impact if Tara had been identified as the thief last spring (back when all the fans herein were insisting that who she was didn’t matter, since if Greg doesn’t tell us, then we shouldn’t care). Having her story dropped like a rock back then, and then having her identity and expulsion finally revealed in such a pat set-up last week that pretty much everyone was expecting to meet Tara this week, is weak. At least we finally get to see two students in the front row who aren’t Jack and Nil.

The good news is that Luann has a lab partner. The bad news, well, ….

Well, I for One, Welcome this NEW Character! And a New “Female” character to Boot! Excellent, Team Evans! And Please don’t Stop with just ONE new female Character. I’m Sorry, “TWO” Female Characters (I’m forgetting Fay). Gunther’s Engineering class COULD Use those Three HOT Female Engineering Students, a certain Evil Old Coffee Drinker Conjured Up a few Months ago on another forum. (HINT, HINT)

PS: Tara WILL “Lab Buddy” with Lu, who’ll WILL her Personal Bias against Tara get in the way of Friendship, thanks to the Urging of Bernice. Things will quickly come to a “HEAD” when Jack meets Tara and Falls for Her, much to the Chagrin of Luann who now Suddenly Realizes She has “Feelings for Jack.” Also Bernice will Find out, to Her Horror, that Tara KNOWS Old Star Head “Very Well” as He has spent many a night In Her Dorm Room, munching on a never ending supply of “Snacks.” And Just WAIT Until Tara Meets Gunther!

First lab experiment: watching live small pox virus using remote sensing from a TV on loan.

So we meet Tara Starr, with a name like that, reprising the wonderful Brenda Starr. She is a cartoon cutie for sure. Now to be Luann’s partner in lab, so Luann meets the accused thief from Mooney University. I assume that Tara transferred to COMMUNITY (not junior jeez) college after she was expelled. Very interesting plot twist, but I felt we would meet Tara. Nice to meet you Tara.

I should not be that surprised that one poster, Ringo, decided to bring up the race card here, celebrating that a new character, Tara, is not black, Asian, Hispanic, and other classification that this person considers non-white. However it is beyond disgusting, and shows how the atmosphere has degenerated in this country, with the divisive political climate we have now. I mean even in Luannverse we have a racial comment, elevating the JOY of a new White character! I like the addition of Tara, and quite expected it. She is really a pretty girl, which is part of the fun in inserting her in the strip. Is she one of those beautiful thief, con-women, or is there another story behind her. I love the red hair too by the way. I don’t give a flying you know what what her race is, and I think commenting its nice to have a new White person added to the strip is pathetic, and I have to call it out.

Not every character MUST be matched up with a potential romantic interest!

It may have been thought that Bernice spilling to Luann the name of the thief (Tara Starr) might have resolved that story arc once and for all. It seems Team Evans has a really big ‘creative stove’, and this un’s been on the back burner – Nice! I like what they’re servin’!

Why after so many years of college is Luann still taking a 101-level class? Is she failing her subjects? Or just taking a super-light, part-time course load?

Tara plus Pru. And they run off to New York and leave this idiotic little town behind them.

Here’s a better plot line: Luann becomes a LUG.

Professor: “In this bio class, we will learn how to physically elongate the head and skull structure to enhance brain growth! I, personally, am an example of such work – as is possibly the young man there in the striped shirt. I was inspired by the Easter Island folks!”

Wow! BIO class at Pitt CC!!!! This is going to be good! Tara apparently was expelled from Moony U and came to Pitt CC. I would anticipate that she will be Luann’s lab partner, which will put Luann in a confusing situation, if she remembers the name from when Bernice told her. But….. while it would seem likely she will remember the name… she may or may not.

Still… a few other points of discussion:

1. First and foremost…. Greg needs to realize that the majority of biology professors who have a “Y” chromosome are facially more furry than this fellow. He should have this fellow grow a beard (and not Gunther-esque fuzz). :)

2. Not really sure what the black and blue bottle is on the lab benches. It seems like it may be either some cleaning fluid (common on the lab bench) or something similar. The shape and design of the bottle, however, looks more like a beverage container, which is typically very much a “no-no” in the biology lab. But we will perhaps see more of what it is.

3. I wonder if either Jack or Nil will also be in the BIO class? I hope so.

4. As many have suggested, Tara looks a lot like a young Molly Ringwald. Intentional? Not sure. But, could we be migrating into a “Breakfast Club” sort of arc?

5. Will the Tara “TV” incident turn out to be a misunderstanding?

Well, that is it for now. Coffee and pipe are finished for this break. I am just damn happy to see the BIO lab today. That is a fun surprise! :)

Pipe she WILL remember the name!! That is the whole point of this dramatic convention; how she deals with it, and the complications it causes is the thing.

After the thief’s identity wasn’t revealed last spring when the story was actually happening, and then it was just suddenly revealed out of the blue for no real reason last week, is there anyone here who wasn’t expecting to see Tara Starr in the strip this week?

The redemtion of Tara…..

Facts:1. There was no security camera for the TV theft.2. There was a security camera for the candy machine break in.3. It is logical to assume that students know where the security cameras are.4. Bernice liked Tara’s personality.5. We do not know anything about Tara Starr’s roommate.

Starr’s roommate is the daughter of her father’s boss. Her father set it up that they would be roommates. The unnamed roommate took the TV. Unimportant compared to the sexual advances she has been putting Starr under.

(Hey if we can have a good gay character, we can face the reality that there can be a bad gay character.)

Rather than confronting her totally dominating father, Tara Starr smashes in the candy machine KNOWING she is on camera and that she will be expelled from Moony.

(And sorry Les, no redemption story for you. Youll have to do that on your own.)

You just KNEW that she was going to be introduced to the current loop. As soon as Bernice mentioned her name you knew it was coming.

Starr was framed…Luann will help her clear her name.

If Tara had only broken into the candy machine I think we would have a pretty good idea of what would have motivated her to grab some junk food in the wee hours at any cost. ;-)

Schrodinger was right….and the probability of finding Tara Starr (who has a name) was high. For someone labeled as a thief she looks surprisingly like a typical fresh faced college girl. Perhaps we will hear her side of the story and maybe fill in some other blanks while we’re at it.

Of course, that assumes that this Tara Starr and the Moony Dorm Thief Tara Starr are the same person – or that the thief’s name really is Tara Starr, and Bernice didn’t get her confused with someone with a similar name

That innocent look will not mask you felonious ways for long, and I suspect this new instructor, the biology guy all in black and with small-lens rimless glasses, will brook no nonsense in his classroom….
