Hi Chip, We are very sorry for your loss. Our four-legged friends become an integral part of our family unit and it is very had to lose them. Hope his passing was peaceful.

It has been 2 1/2 years since we lost our 17 yo Cat and 12 yo Rot/Lab pound puppy, within 3 days of each other. Just yesterday we decided to adopt 2 kittens, and will be getting another dog soon. I believe in the rainbow bridge and that Sammy good boy is there along with all the pets who have enriched our lives so very much.

Tomorrow will be 11 years since our Lab, Brady died in my arms. I still miss her greatly even though the three amigos, Miu, Puma and Tuna keep me busy now a days. Sorry for your loss, Chip.

Our golden retriever passed on last Wednesday, surrounded by his two-legged family, including my 16 year old son who slept on the hard floor beside him the night before he died. We believe he had a stroke and became paralyzed. Even with that he was still so happy with his people beside him. My condolences to you Chip.

Wow – Just gave “Jack” and “Calvin” a few strokes while remembering my departed "Garfield, “Scarlet”, “Tigger”, “Bandi”,and “Jett”. Keeping cats is rewarding, but, they often leave us quickly. Sorry for you loss Chip.

My dog died while I was away in the Army. Somehow that made it easier. There was a lot to distract me. He had been my buddy throughout my teenage years.

We lost Gray Dog Border Collie in March. Too soon gone, he was our smiling, tail-wagging buddy up to the end. So sorry, Chip. Tears still flow…

Like so many others here, Chip, I know how you feel and offer all my sympathy. You will never forget him. May you go on to rescue those who need a home and will give you love and joy in return.

We lost our beloved 13 year old Yellow Lab this past February, she was 2003-2017 as well. One of the reasons I love this strip so much is Louis displays many of the traits (to the extreme of course) as our dog did.

It is always hard to lose a loved one.

I am so sorry! But I am also glad you had the life together you had. In time your memories of those times will be filled with joy instead of pain. I lost my beloved dog in February and it’s only just now that I can start really smiling when I think of her or see her pictures. Hang in there! And be glad that you and Sammy Good Boy had such a wonderful life. The blessings outweigh the pain, even now.

If there’s no Rainbow Bridge, I’m not going! To my beloved dogs, Yellow Lab Susie, who too, died in my arms, our beloved mutts Teddy, Gallagher and Charlie Girl, and our cats, Puss-Puss, Sunshine and Hannah Bee. Hannah Bee looked me in the eyes as I was holding her in my arms, and purred at me, as if to say “I love you, goodbye, Mom.” Our youngest son, who was 26, had to make his first real difficult decision as a grown man, to have his sweet little Calico, Ursula, put to sleep this past Sunday, 2 days before his 27th birthday. It never gets easy, and we still put ourselves through this by welcoming these sweet four-legged critters with open arms and open hearts into our lives for however long we are blessed to have them.

Just lost my old dog Hank. I know what you are going through. When I would play frisbee with him and my other dog Charlie would chase the frisbee and Hank would bite me on the leg (play bite). Man I miss him.

For Chip and every single commenter, I am sending a message to my late Buddy, who I believe now to be a pet greeter in heaven. These will keep him busy for a while, but Buddy, my rescue hound that I had for only four years because he had been allowed to drink antifreeze while being neglected, can do it. He snuggled me through cancer after I nursed him through heartworm. He was always at my side; on walks, he would kind of casually inject himself between me and anyone who approached. I like to think that our four years together were the best of his short life; I still laugh remembering all the nights he crawled cautiously up on the bed, a little at a time, thinking that I wouldn’t notice the addition of 60 pounds of dog to the mattress, and then he would snuggle under my chin while I watched the Cavs. So get busy, Bud, finding clouds and treats for all the pets mentioned above, and especially for Sammy Good Boy. Now I will go find me a Kleenex.
