Golly, it’s the folly of holly jolly with no dolly.

Look! Something I haven’t seen in this comic strip for 4 years! Gunther is jolly!

You Know, MAYBE it’s that sweater, but to Me Gunther appears to be getting thinner each day. Perhaps the lads used up their monthly ration of food when they “weaponized” it the other Month to fight over Tiffany. Irma’s Thanksgiving leftovers may be the first decent meal the lads have had in over a month.

And if the point of this Arc to fill Les with a bit of “Christmas Cheer,” well it doesn’t seem to be working, yet.

Irma should break out the “Spiked Egg Nog.”

But at least Gunther is Happy for change, for however brief a period. And That’s SOMETHING!

Yes, it’s a comic and not real life, BUT maybe the Fuse will have a Christmas party for all these characters and Tiffany can introduce her Dad and “friend” Ann to Al and Les and Bernice and all the party goers who attended lingerie at the party.(run on sentence) Wishful thinking/ Karma?

Les is going to be really jolly when he finds out there are ladders involved.

Leslie is going to learn to be so happy. Just wait until they all sit down to make garland out of popcorn while watching “The Sound Of Music”…

Unbeknownst to Irma, Al has been storing a few things in the storage unit also. Those two boxes, Garlands 1 and Garlands 2, are the remains of the Garland brothers from a rival mob.

Gunther just happened to select the MOST LAME holiday song entertain Les with. g could make me homicidal, with repeated listenings.

This is the part I hate the most.

Gunther really is sharing with les rather than trying to shut him out of what he and mom do.

Ever since Luann and cohorts graduated, this strip has concentrated on college-age young adults who behave as if they were still in the ninth grade. Today, Gunther reverts to kindergarten instead.

Les should put Gunther into the holiday mood with “The Coventry Carol.”

I have a small tree, a santa figure, and two glass trees. I put out the sparkle LED projector and some fairy lights. I have the nativity scene out all year as I have nowhere to put it and it is a nice pewter set. I don’t get the 250,000 lights, 400 figurines and 60 foot santa ballon.

Actually, it’s giving Les a hernia!

Will Greg ever allow Tiff to win even against criminals?

If I were Les, I’d have to move.

But at least he is helping.

Do we see a glimmer of cooperation emerging in Leslie. My, my!

Ya know, I think Les is losing his touch… How on Earth did he allow Gunther to force him to hand carry those boxes while Gunther gets to use the hand truck??? :)

Just the fact that Les is helping at all is a positive sign for his character.

I’m with Les on this one. Anybody who detests “Holly Jolly Christmas” is a friend of mine.

Decent of Leslie to do as ordered by Gunther even with complaints.

So WHAT? G-man sang, “It’s a Holly, Jolly Christmas!”, instead of “Have…”… A lot of people in real life get the actual song lyrics wrong in the first place! It doesn’t mean they don’t feel what they feel, as they do! They go ahead and express it out loud!

I love it. My family was never so productive in this way during any holidays.

FOUR DAYS!!??!? There is NO WAY I’d spend four days putting up Christmas decorations. Or any other holiday decorations for that matter.

And if that’s what it takes to make Lil Gunthie and smother mommie feel “jolly” then I feel kind of sorry for them. They can’t celebrate and enjoy Christmas without burying themselves under a lot of fake holly and tinsel?

It is nice seeing Gunther happier than typical of late. It is nice seeing Les apparently going with the flow and participating.

I still find the current drawing style of Gunther a bit discontinuous, though… Greg is drawing him to look more and more childlike or perhaps more feminine this week. I do not think either pathway is Greg’s intent… but that is how the drawings appear to me. If this becomes the “new norm” for Gunther’s appearance…. I think it does not bode well for his overall growth and development as an adult character.

I had a high school buddy with a bizarre obsessive hatred of Burl Ives (bizarre because this was the 1980’s and he wasn’t political). He’d trot out a stilted “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” impersonation any ol’ time of the year.

Saccharine Alert, stage 2. This story line may be moved to The Hallmark Channel.

For the comments about Gunther’s continual change in appearance, I wondered, too, why he would appear so much younger and skinnier. (He IS supposed to be in college, after all, not middle school.) But I don’t see him as looking like he did in high school. Just take a look at him in Luann Againn, with the big heavy glasses that those of us who were called ‘geeks’ typically wore. He doesn’t look like that, but he also doesn’t look like a college guy anymore…

And just because he’s skinnier and younger looking doesn’t mean the Evanses are going to have him discover that he’s gay. That’s the same, frankly, as saying he looks like he’s a particular religion. Gay people don’t all look the same way any more than people of a particular religion all look alike.

I remember a great “Ziggy” cartoon: Drivers are bumper to bumper on the freeway and they are all scowling (except Ziggy). Ziggy sees a bumper sticker ahead that says, “Honk if You’re Happy.” Ziggy cheerfully responds with “Toot Toot.” A big guy with a scowl gets out of the truck with a hammer and smashes Ziggy’s hood in. In the last frame we now see Ziggy driving on the freeway – scowling like everybody else

I don’t put up things like that. Never have. My mom was .

There’s a couple “Overachievers” whose Christmas displays can be seen from Orbit.

I peeked in at this comic for the first time in a week or two, and sighed. Like (I perceive) an increasing number, I am by now tired of this blatantly ridiculous premise: the admirable but pathetic Gunther sharing a residence with the trashy slob Knox. They’re not Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar. It makes one almost miss Bwad, Toni and their bratty daughter.

i wonder what Tiffany is doing for Christmas. Somehow I don’t expect a family trip to Gstaad is in the works.

Let’s leave these two and move on. It is long past boring.

There is “too much jolly,” and Gunny and Irma are it. Mom has an unhealthy decorating fetish….
