Good! In her weird way Tiffany is able to calm Jack’s big instincts of protect Luann. This is even the demonstration that Jack is absolutely not romantically interested in Tiffany. But her sarcasm is so funny. Her exaggerated coughs is a cartoonish masterpiece!

Gonna turn out Luann is not actually sending distress signals. Just natural physical things. Then Jack’s gonna over re-act.

A chin stroke means “say hi and leave” and a cough means “get ready to swoop”. Luann needs to make up her mind.

I think Luann forgot about all that nonsense already. Jack is confused and Tiff as usual, isn’t helping things much. And she’s supposed to be waiting tables. I wonder what’s going to happen next.

As closely as everyone is observed in this place, Tiffany looks like part of her uniform should include a badge with a pennyfarthing bicycle… and a number.

For crying out loud, are they in high school? They’re sitting in a public place..if she doesn’t get good vibes from him, she can just get up and leave

Who cares why Tiffany is sitting with Jack? This is a pretty humorous situation. Makes you wonder which way tomorrow’s strip will go.

Okay, Three points, today:

1) Well I MUST say that at least, Gunther and Bets got MUCH better “Service” the last time THEY visited the Fuse.

2) Actually, contrary to popular opinion, I think that Jack and Tiffany make a cute couple. They certainly seem compatible on a (COUGH, COUGH) “intellectual level.” ;)

3) Tiffany has proven today, beyond any shadow of a doubt that in addition to being no waitress, she’s also STILL no actress.

Now Then.How will it be before Luann looks over toward where all that Coughing and Hacking Racket is coming from and realizes to her HORROR, that not only is her Mortal Enemy, Tiffany staring at her, but the Jack, the guy she’s totally forgotten about has misread her “signals,” and is about to “spring into action” at the worse possible time? ;)

And if she quits making any noise and holds her throat like that – it means she needs the Heimlich!

Luann, that big guy over there and that server keep looking at us.

Tiffany has got this ‘anime’ face-look in Panel 3 … Looks way too cartoonish, even for Greg’s style in Luann. Some are saying her choking could be real. I think she’s just overdoing it to get Jack’s ‘swooping in’ attention – by employing a lesson from William Shatner’s Book of ACTING!!! ;)

Hey I can comment in my actual ID on my old trusty computer! Must be a glitch in my secondary computer, and on my tablet. Hmmm. Anyway, this is a case of hilarity ensuing as a set-up to a larger Jack/Luann arc, and of course there is always Tiffany. For Tiffany and Luann I can see a progression from as far back as grammar school, going through high school, and while there is still the frenemy aspect (hate that millennial word actually) the original characters kind of know each other, Jack is new, but I think meant for long-term continuation, and there is always misdirection, all part of hilarity ensuing. This is drawn situation comedy, and its really in the wheelhouse Luann has always been in, her life, and the craziness that accompanies it. I have a feeling a serious subject is about to come up, not related to this however. But for now I am going to enjoy the craziness, and hold the restraining bars for the ride.

Jeepers.

Jack is a H3LLVA Nice Guy, no doubt. But he’s got a Major “flaw.”

So…. Luann is being depicted again as quietly listening….. I wonder if we are supposed to get the idea that Dougy may be overly verbose?

Jack…. well….. is seems to almost have a hair trigger to respond at this point….. is that potentially validating the idea that he wants to “save” Luann….. and potentially be her “hero”? Probably not… he is probably just trying really hard to do what he was instructed to do and be a good friend….. but…. he does seem to be going at it rather strongly, IMO.

Tiffany…. is being “Tiffany”…. old style Tiffany….. or is she? It seems that in the past, the “old” Tiffany would be trying to grab onto any potential suitor for Luann. She showed that to a degree last week with Jack…. but Jack had nothing to do with that…. but, Tiffany seems quite stand off-ish about Dougy.

Not much else that I notice today.

Maybe you should just casually walk over instead of “swooping in,” since you aren’t sure.

Or since Tiffany seems to want to help, she can go over to the table any time as the waitress.

I assume Luann notices that Tiffany is sitting at Jack’s table and reading his notes.

Actually. I like the idea of Jack and Tiff.. I think they make a good match.

I’ve thought this was about “pairing” Luann and Jack – using Doug as the much maligned (deservedly) plot device. (Some think we might yet see him by the end of the week – I’m not holding my breath; he still has all the feel – and look – of a “throw-away”)

But on second thought, it may well be a device to “pair” Jack with Tiffany.

And if JPuzzleWhiz and others are right, that Tiffany really is choking, then Jack gets to be a hero, after all – but not necessarily to his buddy (whom he’s supposed to be protecting)…

Doubtful that Tiffany is actually choking. She started out by saying that if Luann was actually signaling, it shouldn’t be a small cough, it should be, and then she demonstrated what it should be…

There isn’t anything on the table Tiffany and Jack are at – not even water. (Where’s the server? Oh yeah…) So, especially given the dialogue, she’s acting, not actually choking.

Jack’s tolerating her presence and her “help,” but now he’s paying attention to Tiffany instead of Luann…this is a good opportunity for him to be distracted and miss Luann’s real signal.

Jack and Tiff couldn’t make it more obvious that they are watching – they are both on the same side of the table staring right at them. If Dougie gets the idea of what is going on (IE: He and Luann are the floor show or some biological specimens under a microscope), I would not blame him if he just got up and left.

Love that third panel. Reminds me of the first time Eve saw Adam without his fig leaf.

The lipstick defines Tiffany’s lips, like it does for Crystal, Nancy, Toni, and Tara. Without it, she looks like Luann and Bernice, or one of those round, yellow smiley faces that tell you to have a nice day.

Oh FFS. Time for TJ to swoop in and make Tiff do her effin’ JOB, a.k.a. waiting the tables!

Luann does not look like she is enjoying herself though Doug seems to have her attention, the 3rd installment of Doug & Luann and she has not said a word nor smiled or laughed.

Tiffany has never looked better.

FYI for anyone who feels I was being stupid Thursday and Friday, Thursday I was prepping for a procedure, and Friday i had the damn thing. I was hardly online anywhere. I had no idea people could see my posts on my account but not in the comments. So I apologize to Schroedinger’s Dog.

Jack’s right – with a cough like that coming out of Luann, he wouldn’t need to swoop, because Dough would be running for his life….

Tiffany is a waitress. She has the perfect reason to walk up to Luann’s table and ask, “Is everything OK here?”

If Luann isn’t distracted by that sound (tiff), then maybe she is truly captivated by Doug.

Tiffany and Dough should get together.

Tiffany the Would-be Actress just can’t resist hamming it up a tad. Hang in there, Jack. This arc will end in a few more days….

Doug is an EMT. He will dash over to the table to give Tiffany mouth to mouth; then love and hilarity will ensue.
