Oh Elvis! Overreacting again!! But Figaro, Lupin and Beatrix are rationally considering the gato naranja (wherever he/she may be). We’ll have to see. Goldie should show up next week (I hope).
Tabitha, Wielder of the Ice Cream Cone! Evildoers and intruders beware!
I really like the range of patterns on the sheets Beatrix and Trevor are under. A great detail that really sells it as a makeshift blanket fort. (Who color-coordinates their blanket forts?!)
I’m very surprised that Elvis admitted that he was nervous! my cat, what does this storm have that it can cause such a thing?? It seems to have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal man (and cat). that ice cream cone light is hysterical, as in funny, not emotional!
I must point out that Lupin switched from thinking he saw a strange orange cat to being certain he saw one without evidence. Puck cannot corroborate the sighting.
Am I the only one thinking this is all a lead in to the Sunday strip that will introduce Goldie? If she’s to become a permanent fixture in the daily strips she needs an intro on a Sunday so those who only get Sunday’s in their paper get a bit of her background.
Before anything else, I am rushing to BCN to see what will happen next in this story. The plot is building and the Characters are being adorable. I love that Tabitha is using the novelty illuminated Ice Cream Cone to see around. This is Art and story telling at its finest.
On another matter, I have been working on my story: Giblet & Belle & The Case Of The Missing Ring. I am over 11,000 words and 7 chapters in. I write every chance I get, which to be honest, is not as often as I would like. Between Family, work and caring for my parents, time is spread pretty thin. I am usually up at 4:30 a.m. and today I did not wake up until 7:00 a.m. It feels like I missed half the day. My wife and daughter help with Mom and Dad and they are invaluable. My daughter, Alexandria, is 16 and shoulders more responsibility than a 16 year old should have to.
I am still looking for a way to post the story so my friends here on the Orb can read it and offer feedback. I am also in the market for an illustrator that can do simple scene illustrations that I can inter-spaced in the story. The story is still real rough, but the frame work is there as well as the sundry characters, the protagonist and antagonist. I ask my wife to offer ideas and my Daughter named the Owl in the story – Atlas – which I think is a great name for a Great Horned Owl. By the way, Atlas is key to the stories climax scenes.
I also have to stop and do research in order to make the story logical. Silly little things like…Are there Great Horned Owls in Connecticut? There are! How big is a warm air duct on a furnace? Completely depends on the air flow that is needed. And, was there Resistance in Carentan, France in 1945? There was! (its important to the story, you will see.) If you would like, perhaps I will post here the opening paragraphs of Chapter XI – La Resistance.
Poor Lupin. He just wants to be sure the strange orange cat is found and made safe and he gets yelled at. Just think guys; if you are nervous even in your safe, warm, loving homes, just how terrifying must this storm be for someone who has no safe place to go!?
Requires smooth surface, typically wood, tile or vinyl. Carpet, grass, etc not suitable.
Requires minimum of 3 cats, no upper limit discovered.
Requires trigger, usually sonic, although motion can be used.
A group of assembled cats, awake, resting or in Brownian motion. Trigger, any unexpected sound, one cat bolts with the sound of scratching claws seeking but not finding purchase. In a chain reaction rivaling the speed of the Hiroshima bomb, all cats present have vanished in a catsplosion of flying legs and the sound of [insert #] sets of claws vainly extended for traction.
Trigger can be obvious, like a thunder clap, or so subtle a human is left totally confused. The sound of the catsplosion varies based on numbers and materials, but most closely resembles a sudden burst of large hail on the roof, inside the house.
This has been a public service announcement for those considering multi-cat households.
If there was only some blurry video image that ONLY Burt could record! … And IF this ‘Orange Paw-Foot’ could do the walking stance, just like in that other grainy film footage from Alaska, years ago!! … Now THAT would be NEWS!
But, Burt’s staying in his ‘comfies’ for this storm! (Smart of him). … And, there you go! :)
Not been in BCN today due to new oven being delivered. Not balanced & front badly ssssssscratched. Third stove in 19 years. Nothing seems to be made to last anymore.
Front is over an inch higher than rear.
Been on the phone with customer service. I am promised a compensation check, and the repair guy will be here Tuesday. (Ssssssssteam venting!)
Will see. Sits so high my “ladies frontage” rests on front burners as I reach back to turn knobs. (Sssssssizzling!) Way over counter height. (Sssssssearing!)
As I said, we’ll see. At least I can use it, carefully! }:-(
Will post better tomorrow. Now to vent to relatives who used to work for the company that made stove. May want a portion of their generous retirement checks! (Jussssssst kidding! Maybe.)
Okay, now Tabitha and Sir Figaro seem concerned. I’d say sir Figaro seems scared hiding behind Tabitha like that, but more likely he isn’t hiding. More likely he’s getting out of the way before she goes postal in order to protect him, their woman, and their home.

But Elvis, reporters report what they see! Lupin saw what he saw!
Did that last thunder boomer knock Beatrix’s hat off, or did Trevor accidentally do that?

Yes, cats. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Alien catstronaut theorists suggest that that strange large orange cat could be from outer space!

AW, poor Trevor! Even Beatrix cuddles cannot comfort him! Beatrix, pull a blanket over his head, that might help.

From Carousel: You’ll Never Walk Alone
When you talk through a storm,
Keep your friends in mind,
And don’t panic ’cause of the rain,
All throughout the storm
Your friends are still there,
And the sun’s gonna shine once again.
Talk on through the noise
Talk on through the dark
Though the wind may storm and blow
Talk on, talk on, we’re all there for you
And you’ll never be alone!
You’ll never be alone!
