Well I’m certainly glad Luann’s not going into teaching as part of some power trip!

I’m so happy Luann decided to try and become a college teacher♡. They and university art teacher are the only ones who also have time to continue to make their own art.

No more out of continuity sundays specials?Also, Luann doesn’t seem to have outgrown the grade school teaching yet.

My mother was a first grade teacher and I thought it would be more interesting to teach junior high and high school. WRONG! The kids challenged me continually (I wasn’t much older than they were and much shorter than most). One of them kept asking me out (he was one year younger than I, having had to repeat a grade or two somewhere along the line). Bigger kids; bigger problems. Wish I had taught Kindergarten after all.

For the second time in three weeks, the Sunday strips are a carry over from the weekday arc. Interesting!

Are we seeing a shift in Luann’s professional aspirations? Does this mean no more Kids Place strips?

I had a feeling about Luann wanting to teach art! It’s funny. Little kids up to around Grade 3-4 just adore their teachers and usually work hard. From Grades 5 and up the hormones kick in and teachers struggle to maintain order and hold their attention, sometimes into graduation. But once they hit college they becomes serious and respectful once again. Go figure.

Zebo’s first name? I go with Charles. Anyway, having the arc continue to Sunday is very interesting in so many ways. It shows Luann’s eventual career choice progress, her personal selfness progress, the fact that she really is a very personally conservative person in values, although I think a very giving, forgiving person, now lets see if she begins to circle around to the final theme of Luannverse, which is her after all, her world, romance, and WHO? Lots of candidates, and there could be someone new. I still think Jack. I love the idea of her getting close to Jack and maybe Quill coming from the past, and she has to chose. Of course I have floated the same with GUnther, ROsa, and now Bets. Now that last would be a royal throwdown if GnK chose that storyline. Nice to think of our main characters being fought over, hmmm?

The Z man’s style requires a mystery initial to go with his full name: J. Rosco Zebo. I could also consider, Conrad Zebo, in honor of an old, eccentric teacher I once had.

Luann’s response in Frame 3 reminds us that it’s time for Luann to step out into the world a little more. She needs to move out on her own or with a roommate (but not Bernice).

Auditing the class today we have Lisbeth Salander, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Dangerous, but has the hots for Zebo.

If Luann wants to teach at the college level she’ll need to study in the discipline she intends to teach; she’ll need to study art seriously; she’ll need to be a practicing artist herself before any school will even consider her.

I have already commented on today’s strip, but I noticed a comment by someone who regularly contributes to this strip that I find offensive and personally insulting and ignorant. I wont dignify the person by identifying him, but I have to answer his assertion that Professor Zebo does not deserve to be called professor because he teaches at a mere junior college. First of all personally I teach at a community college. Most community colleges, with the exception of some private junior colleges, and possibly a few taxpayer supported ones, are called and have been for more than 30 years, community colleges, Before that change, and today most community colleges teach full curricula of accredited college level course work, with appropriate rigor, by faculty who have doctorate degrees for the most part, and at least one Master’s in a content area. I have four degrees, including a JD, two Masters, the BA, and 80 hours toward a second doctorate, the only thing left being the dissertation in critical race theory, and interest convergence, I mention that because millions of students get accredited education in courses for which with Associate degrees they can practice and be state licensed. That nurse, or physician’s assistant, or HR Tax accountant are but a small percentage of those people, Many more go on to 4 year colleges and graduate school, myself included, and enjoy saving thousands of dollars of money they DID NOT have to borrow, and for which they are much better prepared than the average or even above average high school graduate. I could go on and on, but the ignorance of this comment and attitude, and the personal insult it is, not so much to me, or my thousands of highly qualified faculty, who by the way also write books, and many of the textbooks being used in college generally,: the real insult is to all these students. That is the part that is sad.

That reminds me of when one of my professors slipped and told me to take my fingers out of my mouth when I was biting my nails in her class
