I like all the details in the last panel, like the paper from Beatrix’s disguise and Goldie’s coat hung up to dry and what I think are paper rolls from Tommy’s arm hung up also.
This makes me so sad. We moved a couple of months ago, to an entirely new city. Brand new manufactured home which suits us in our retirement. Our 15 year old, never-outside-for-even-one-minute-in-their-entire-lives kitties made a remarkably successful adjustment to their new house, which was a great relief! But now, a very young (maybe six months) little male tabby with white footsies and a pinky nose and the sweetest mew and buzz-saw purr has showed up, rolling over and flaunting his soft white belly and telling us he has chosen us. NO no no no….our elderly kitties can’t do this at their age and tolerance…and we can only have one litter box. We have gotten him (and his buddy Siamese who is also young but is owned next door) an outdoor feral cat house with an electric, heated bed. He was fixed yesterday, got shots, micro-chipped, and ear-mite dosed. But I live in terror of the horrible things I’ve seen happen to so many outside cats! We have never had any cat who lived outside.
OT: my dwarfism finally plays to my advantage! Every mall Santa needs an elf, so I’ll be working as a greeter elf at the mall for the next several weekends to get a little folding money for Christmas.
Oh my Cat! The feels! I know it all turns out right in the end and Goldie has a warm, safe, loving home, but watching this journey of hers is making me want to reach through the computer screen to scritch her ear and tell her it’s going to be okay (and of course I would have to give Tommy and Beatrix a few rubs while I’m there). So excited for an early glimpse of the Tommy-baum!
I’m the newbie who must remember to keep tissues close while reading the strip AND the comments. Learning so much history. I am reviewing the history of these babes. Cute how the art has changed but the heart and soul along with details has remained the same. Thank you all again for the welcome; it made me purr.
Aww! Sweet Tommy gave Goldie that special blue coat that gave him such comfort when he was a stray. :D And the impossibly tiny box for Beatrix while he makes due under an old towel; he’s a very thoughtful host. What a good boy.
I know I’m not the only one here with this complaint – but my awful, dreadful, inadequate, inferior screen is acting up once again. I can hardly see the cheerful little lit-up tree for all the blurring…
Georgia has captured Goldie’s expression perfectly in the last panel—relief, hope and gratefulness. My allergies are acting up again, eyes are watering terribly…
Beatrix must be really worn to a frazzle if she’s not chasing all those loose pompoms around. And I really thought I’d see the 3 cats sleeping in a heap (possibly in that box, which WOULD make it impossibly tiny) for extra warmth. KITTY PILE!!!
Outdoor cats do remarkably well if they have lived outside their entire lives. They can like their “hoomans” but they are first and last carnivores. They will be all right and your indoor cats may enjoy watching them through the windows.
Aaaaaaaaah! It’s the Tommybaum! Earlier than expected this year! Aaaaaaaaaah! I’m so happy!
My work Tommybaum comes out after Thanksgiving. I started with it a few years ago, and it was the first (and still only) Christmas decorating I’d done since my last mall job 20+ years ago. (Retail tends to sour you on Christmas, and I have family members who more than make up for my Bah Humbugness.)
We just put out the electric feeding and water station for our 3 ferals. They need to be trapped and taken to the no kill shelter, but hubby has been reluctant to do that. First it was the two kittens are still nursing from their mom and now I’m not sure what the excuse is for him. We put the house out on the porch in the sun also. The mom arrived mid-July and it wasn’t until late August or early September that she showed up with two kittens that we knew the cat was a she. She is very feral. She has moved them and herself around quite a bit, but she always shows up in the morning and around 5 PM, as that is when I feed them. And we have no clue as to what sex the kittens are, yet. If I thought they could survive this winter weather that we have, I would take them back, after they have been neutered. We don’t know what to do, yet.
The pain in my hip is still on the plateau. I suspect it will stay there until well after I have replaced the chair I’m using now. I suspect it’s actually my back that is the problem, and not my hip. It’s on the left side, but more towards the middle (where my spine is) than towards the outer side of my hip.
4 years ago someone abandoned a cat in a box outside of a tan republic and Salem Oregon. The manager put up a notice on Facebook and it popped up on a friends Facebook wall on my wall, and it also included that someone had left a note saying, "we can’t take care of her, please find someone who can. "To this day I still find that remarkably cruel considering her nature. But she has become my best friend and I named her Purrsha.http://blinkinstudios.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/20190812_214222_HDR.jpg
Two weeks in and she has really settled in well. She’s very well-behaved for the most part, although she now has a new moniker: she is become Bella, destroyer of toys.
She and Akiro are not exactly best buddies so far (Akiro is a rough customer, so I’m not too surprised), but they are respecting one another’s boundaries reasonably well.
Today, we took her on an outing to the local pet supply store; our local shelter was having an adoption event and I wanted them to see that she’s landed on her feet. After that, we stopped at our local ice cream shop; they offer doggy sundaes to your 4-footed pals when you order people treats. Bella is a fan.
Thank you to all of you who offered your condolences and wishes on the passing of our Kyo. The other 9 are trying their best to make us feel better. They all came to him yesterday to say their goodbyes, and were very subdued for the rest of the day. It was very touching, and they have helped us through our grief by reminding us just how much Kyo has meant to, and will be missed by all of us.
Well, far as I can tell Tommy wasn’t actually a stray, he just got seperated from his woman and couldn’t find his way home. Though now I’m starting to wonder if he really did the sam thing as Elvis or if someone wasn’t trying to get rid of him. Not his woman, either.
Shadow I forgot to mention that Crystal lived outdoors and in the garage during Tappy and Stripe’s decline but they were already decling. Nobody was left out. When we got our new kitten we adjusted the older cat Misty. It just depends. Just take it day by day. You’ll make the best decisions for each of them.

Queen knows about Best Friends
Ooh, you make me live
Even when this world turns its back on me
There’s Tommy, Alice, and Bea
Ooh, you make me feel right at home,
Ooh, you make me live!
…….
Oh, you’re the best friends that I ever had,
I’ve been with you for a short time,
It’s really pouring, but I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
Oh, you’re my best friends!
Ooh, you make me live!
…….
Ooh, I’ve been wandering ’round
Until I met all of you
In all this rain
You’ve lit up my way,
I’m happy at home
You’re my best friends
…….
Ooh, you make me live
This world doesn’t seem so cruel to me
I got you to help me forgive
Ooh, you make me purr like Beatrix
Ooh, you make me live
…….
You’re the first ones
When things turned out bad
Who kept me from being lonely
You’re the greatest ones
And I love the things
I really love the things that you do
Oh, you’re my best friend
Ooh, you make me live!
