Caucus is an absolutely dumb way to select a candidate and it relies on intimidation making it much worse. The voting booth in privacy makes more sense.
This ’toon could so easily be Neolithic Trump dealing with Neolithic, distinguished, long-serving federal employees who testify in the Neolithic Senate.
I cannot fathom why, as a country, we allow a bunch of corn-silk smoking farmers in Iowa, playing what amounts to a gigantic game of “Red Rover”, get to pick the candidates who the rest of the nation can chose from.
Sorry; must expound on one of my pet peeves. It is named the DEMOCRAT Party; not democratic nor democracy party. Democratic and democracy are entirely different meaning words not synonymous to Democrat. Although this Democrat Party is not representative of my parents, grandparents and; yes, MY Democrat Party of years ago since Liberal Democrats were the “loyal opposition” who were just as patriotic and proud of their country as anyone else. Not so much, now. When I was young (ye young whippersnappers); Liberal was not a dirty word and was associated with traits like open-mindedness, tolerance, willing to change (for the better; not just to have change) and a willingness to engage in open debate about ideas. Conservative meant satisfaction with the status quo and tradition. Low key imposition on others lives and liberty; and since we are a pretty good Nation by what we have accomplished, we should not rock the boat too much. Keep radical upheavals to a minimum. But on both sides there always seemed to be a “bi-partisan” compromise that could lead to solutions of the most important problems. Both sides contributed our growth, maturity and correcting mistakes our forebears made. The Left has changed the dialog and even the meaning of words. “Words have meaning; and ideas have consequences.”
Here we see Wiley making well deserved fun of Democrats. It may not happen often but when Democrats deserve a kick in the pants, Wiley will offer it up. By the way, how many Mallard Fillmore or Gary Varvel cartoons have you seen poking fun at Republicans? I suspect that number for the two of them combined hovers awfully close to zero.
As far as caucuses go (is it cauci?), they do have an advantage over primaries: As presently constituted in many states now, you can vote in the other party’s primary. Even if it’s not the law in your state, you can probably still “declare” for the other party just to vote in its primary.
And the incentive this year is, with Trump the only one running in the Republican party, “or else,” as TexTech said above, why not go vote in the other party’s primary – just to screw it up!
They Have stopped the practice of persuading other voters to back Your Candidate by bashing people over the head and casting their votes for them while they recover from the Concussion.
Of course, the Parties insist that the concussionless caucus just takes longer because too may people refuse to change their minds until they go Deaf when faced with overwhelming Screaming.
That looks like a sport trump followers could embrace…

And the GeeOhPee has one candidate. Just like Vlad, Kim, MoBS, and their other heroes, Adolf, Benito, Mao, Franco, Sukarno, etc.

Funny how some candidates do well in caucus, but not so much in primaries. Guess it helps when your supporters can take the whole day off.
