Wow, Tiff and Les talking to each other like actual human beings! No hidden agendas from Les to be Tiff’s “dessert”, no implied quid-pro-quo. Instead, they’re stepping outside to have a private conversation about family. And Les re-emphasizes his wish to have a li’l bro.
Does Les deserve a +1 today to make up for his -1 on Sunday?
Yeah, growing up is a real pain. Growing old is worse and not for the faint of heart. So kids, although you’re only fictional characters, enjoy it while you can. ;-}
BTW, I’ve never noticed but does Ann’s last name give us a clue to anything that has been hinted about her anywhere earlier in the strip? I can’t recall anything.
ya know i gotta admit it’s nice to see them get along with each other, and Les is still Les but he’s more bearable than he used to be, in part i think by both Gunny and of course for Punk which is just a great name for a cat i’m sorry it is. it fits Les to a T to name a cat that i think
Panel #2: Tiff has regained her sympathetic, attractive look. (for the moment). Les, is still the rat faced, foul tempered ex-bully that Greg decided to rescue.
Help me out here. I’m trying to remember a character who used to appear innthis strip. I think her name was Liann? Luwan? Can’t remember. What ever happenedbto her?
Oh no, how wrong you are. The worst that can happen is yet to happen. Two emotionally stunted individuals, very young, uneducated and working minimum wage jobs, oh, lets call them Les and Tiffany, try to create, or recreate the family they never had.
Too bad there’s this whole other person involved. What’s his name? Dom? Mom? You know, the stupid one who is no longer loyal to his own daughter. The one who thought that slut-shaming troglodyte Phelps would be a good shrink for his depressed daughter? The one who is currently getting a free pass because he’s some dorky idiot father type who’s unable to think with his big head? Yeah, the grown man who is helpless and blameless in the entire convoluted situation, because he’s profoundly stupid even though he’s a very rich lawyer, Glom! That’s it!
Now I am wondering where this arc is going…?? Will we read about them being melancholy or will they start to scheme? Or exchange advice? Am feeling like this is going nowhere.
Well, gotta say, things ain’t looking too good for our new main characters (the strips title hasn’t officially been changed but trust me, the announcement’s coming) I’d thought after Tiffs reaction yesterday that they’d band together and figure out a way to expose Ann to Tom, but unfortunately, it appears that they were serious in their conclusion 2 weeks ago. I’d still holding out hope that this Ann arc gets wrapped up quickly (now would be the most wonderful time for Al and Irma to be strolling along their property and overhear)
But for now, it’s satisfying to see the bonds of friendship grow between our leads. Considering everything they’ve been through, and are about to go through with a wedding and baby ahead, it’s good for them to have someone close that they can fully trust.
Awww, they look so sweet in the last panel. And, being raised by a single parent, they have so much in common. They just seem to belong together and click. Heck, Tiff even bared her shoulder for him once, signalling she was ready for him, then seemed disappointed when he did not pick up on her signal. Perhaps this time around?
Maybe they’re headed to the Fuze where they’ll drown their sorrows with a couple of root beers. Then, Tiffany bends the sympathetic ear of the barkeep, Nancy, who then offers a most complete idea, which could possibly solve Tiffany’s housing dilemma.
Les is going to have to make a seismic shift if we’re to see any sparks fly ‘tween him and Tiff. He’s displayed more sentiment toward Punk.
He hasn’t acted like he had sexual interest in a female since 6/6/2017 with Tiff and 1/30/2019 with Luann. Of course those were before the nicer, post Punk era. Still…
Here’s something to consider; they both know what kind of parents they have. So they should be around more, to help ‘shield’ their new little sibling from the inevitable heartbreak.
I bet the commenter was right yesterday. Uncle Am will remember Ann can’t gave kids. But once Tom realizes she’s a liar who tried to trap him, will her break up with her? No. He’s thinking with the wrong organ.
And once again, Gunther is left in the dark by these two. Shades of 2018, when they did the same thing during the Ann Eiffel take down. “Can’t tell Gunther, and maybe we’ll Think of reason Why, not later.” It’s shame really. Tiffany only comes to Gunther when she’s in SEROUS trouble.
And now she’s giving Les “flirty eyes.” The same “flirty eyes” she once gave Jack, Quill, Kip, ad nauseam. I hear what some of you are saying. “Wimpy Gunther never made a move toward Tiffany.” Well friends and neighbors, Les hasn’t made any real move toward Tiffany either. And she’s been sending all the signs. Les has been all talk. All talk around Gunther. But But hey, what does it matter? Tiffany is practically being handed to “handed to Les gift wrapped.” Whether she winds being Les’ step-sister or girl friend, once again a (former?) “bad guy” in the Strip WINS. This has been building for three years now.
But the above is not the WORSE part. You know what the worse part is? By walking away, these two have put Gunny in the same class as Ann Eiffel, as many of Gun’s detractors said yesterday. All Gunther did was to ask (ASK mind you) Les, HIS FRIGGIN’ ROOMMATE, to fold a damned towel. THAT makes Gunther “Ann Eiffel.”
These two talk about family. But Les has never considered Gunther as “family.” I suspect neither will Tiffany, “IF” her mom marriesTom. That is until Tiffany needs something from him. And Al Gray certainly doesn’t act like Gunther is family. Then, as now, all Gunther’s got is his Mom, Irma. And damned if “folks” don’t criticize him for being close to HER. And she’s gone…., This whole Eiffel/Knox/Gray Clan is like taking a dip in Lake Chernobyl. EVERYBODY that plunges in, comes out blissfully but throughly CONTAMINATED.
Les and Tiffany are in the middle of a weird epiphany of life. The sudden change between being too lonely and be surrounded by too much people. At least, they seem to be happy with each other.
Sense they both are such poor parents, why not then divorce your parents and write them off and move on. They’re both of age now where they could do that. Those kinds of parents are full of themselves and can only hurt them.
I’m not an artist, but once again the ‘mannequin’ hands on Tiffany in frame 3 just draw my focus. (It’s not just Tiff, almost all the characters get them from time to time); Toni seems to a lot.
Tiffany and Les are adults and don’t have to be involved with the child, or even each other. On the other hand, they both know this is a bad situation with their parents. And for Tiffany, this may becoming less about saving her inheritance and more about Ann Eiffel being totally evil.
I don’t like where this may be going. Yes, Leslie Knox and Tiffany Farrell share a lot in common. But that does not mean they are destined for each other! —At least, I hope not….
I am so hoping that this is all a lie from Ann. (Not surprising) Also hoping that Tom is finally wakened up to see Tiffany’s and others reality when in the presence of the Witch. DeGroots could use the eye opener too. Especially mom. It would be fun to see TJ expose all her evilness.
Side note: In the “modern era of Luanniverse,” that is, since Pru besotted Les at the Fuse, Tiff and Les have been portrayed as on and off more than Luann and Gunther. And that’s sayin’ somethin’!
All of us Gunther with Tiffany dreamers are gradually being beaten into submission. 8^ (
Well, well, Tiffany and Les actually voice what I have been saying for quite some time—that they come from dysfunctional single family situations, now apparently being united by blood with not only the union of, but apparently child of the two single parents in question. I want to make it clear that there are great single parents, I am the product of one, my grandmother, who I can’t even think about without tearing up, and terrible two parent families, which I wanted so much, so achingly when I was a boy growing up. That is why the story of these two bozos affects me personally.
After it was established that the decedent had made everybody’s lives miserable, establishing that everybody had a motive to kill him, making it pretty clear that he really did deserve to die,
At the end of the show, the only one to get punished was the one who really had done everyone else the favor of removing the decedent from their lives.
That’s what this strip is starting to look and feel like.
Having a lot of family is a good thing, a net positive. People with little or no family are much more vulnerable than those with large family ties; e.g. homeless persons generally have no family that they can (or want to) turn to. Les is fortunate to have Irma and Al. If Tiffany cuts herself off from Tom and Ann (miserable as she is) she will be vulnerable. Irma and Al (responsible adults) are now (or will be) part of Tiff’s family. Even though Tiff is 18, she still needs the guidance of someone older and more experienced in life
I gotta ask; Where was Tiffany’s mom when she was growing up? Did she walk out on the family? Or did she meet a tragic and untimely end like Les’ Father….
He was a comedy genius and a television pioneer, being involved with such shows as “Your Show of Shows,” as well as being the creator of the classic “The Dick Van Dyke Show”.

Tiff and Les – Family is as big or small, close or distant, as you make it. As adults, you are the ones to decide what relatives or friends you consider family.
Something has got to happen. As rotten as Ann is, I can’t believe that Tiffany’s dad is going to marry her. Also I have a feeling that Ann’s not pregnant. She’s got to be around 40 and although it’s possible, just not likely.
Ann got a random ultrasound photo and didn’t give it to Tiffany’s dad, who didn’t know about it until Tiffany brought it up after the engagement trip. Ann was keeping the ultrasound just in case Tiffany’s dad didn’t fall for her attempts to get him to propose. She’s not pregnant— She’s faking. Why else would she leave the ultrasound photo at home, hidden? When the truth comes out, Tiffany’s dad will finally see Ann for the conniving monster she truly is.

Ok, I’m puzzled by Tiff’s comment in panel two.
“Or a sister (if Ann’s kid is a girl) without a step-sister?”
In other words, he’d be happier if his mother had a daughter and Tiffany didn’t exist? Since she’ll be his stepsister.
Or does she mean they’d have a better relationship if their parents didn’t marry and she wasn’t related to him?
Or something totally different?

June 15th – Tiffany seeks advice and solace from Les at The Fuse.
June 22nd – Daddy Tom’s face is first shown; the day after Fathers Day, BTW!
June 29th – Tiffany seeks advice and solace from Les at The Gulag.

A true irony of old TV shows, like Perry Mason:
After it was established that the decedent had made everybody’s lives miserable, establishing that everybody had a motive to kill him, making it pretty clear that he really did deserve to die,
At the end of the show, the only one to get punished was the one who really had done everyone else the favor of removing the decedent from their lives.
