I just went outside to see whether I could see the Neowise comet, but it’s not in a line of sight from my house right now. All five planets are visible at once now, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. I saw this arrangement plus the Moon in December 1997 in Tucson, which was the first time I’d seen Mercury – spectacular!

I looked for the comet tonight but being in the city it is not easy to spot through the glare. Especially as we are east of the city.

I remember a vacation where the parents took me and my sisters to Blowing Rock NC. I think it was a yesr or 2 after Disney opened in Orlando so it was the early 70s. Man, at night up there I must have seen a million stars in that night sky as it was so dark with no glow from nearby cities dimming the view. Try as I have, I have never been able to repeat the experience; here in FL, up in the Appalachians, or anywhere else……

    Meanwhile Back on the Nile

Queen Catshepsut the Golden: The Great Pyramid is such a lovely place to watch the stars. I understand Thomosis has a surprise for us.

Thomosis: Indeed, Your Majesty. I found an ancient cook-scroll from the time of King Catfu, the builder of the pyramid (Well, he had a lot of help.)

Lupinium: Oh, did you bring that corn that’s so much fun to chase around?

Thomosis: Straight from Trevor-Hotep’s nursery. And also these treats between two wafers.

Elvis-Anum: I’d like some more of them.

Beatrixia: Where did the Royal Procurers find this cacao treat?

    The Queen: They aren’t saying.

Puckmosis: I’m glad King Catfu found a use for this Pyramid. He must have hosted some great parties.

“Mercury in Gatorade” sounds like the sort of things children say when they’re just navigating the world of verbal communication. Apparently I told a neighbour my brother was a “dirty little boy” as a small child because I’d heard someone tell my mother he was a “sturdy little boy”.

Okay, I have to admit it. That is me in panel 4. Georgia asked for a recent snap-shot and I sent it to her via email. It is taken on my back porch and it was during Martini time. I am holding my drink in my right hand, but Georgia cut it out…family strip and all.

Well done Georgia, only my abs are a little more defined. You can re-draw it later.

Yay! Seems like a mighty long time since the Robber Ladies appeared.

Waiting for their book, “Robber Mice: 4 on the Floor”.

Hope the Boy & Girl will look back and cherish these times. ❤️

    ♫ Starry, starry night

    Shining planets that brightly blaze

    Swirling clouds in violet haze

We reflect on sky that’s darkly blue

    Colors changing hue

    Mercury in gatorade

    Robber mice sipping red kool-aid

We’re soothed beneath the heaven’s Milky band

    Now we try to understand

How fragile this wondrous life can be

And how we get caught up in triviality

Instead of pondering all the splendor and the mystery

We could not let go, we did not know how

Perhaps we’ll let go now ♪

I took an online course awhile back on moons and there was a great link to the Saturn rings footage backed by a Shostakovich’s waltz. Its really cool the way it was done. Although if you are epileptic, the footage can be a little stroby in places.

Today is National Daiquiri Day. After dealing with insurance nerds all day yesterday, I think this is highly appropriate, and I intend to honor the day by indulging in one.

Further research has revealed that it is also National Ice Cream Day and National Stick Out Your Tongue Day. Well, of course! How else does one eat an ice cream cone? Why not celebrate both? Absolutely no reason I can think of.

Not to be left out is National Raspberry Cake Day. I suggest we keep the cake and give all the politicians a raspberry …

It is also National Flitch Day. No, not Filch Day, Flitch Day. Just what exactly is a flitch, you ask. You better sit down, this may be quite overwhelming. A flitch is an entire slab of bacon! Otherwise known as heaven on earth.

So to celebrate, I’m considering a raspberry ice cream cake daiquiri with a side of bacon …
