Natasha’s logic is also impeccable. I predict that Goldie will approve.

Love the use of the teabag and what looks like a loufa (sp?) sponge. Unless that’s another look at the teabag. Natasha is some girl!

Natasha has no motive! Her reaction is just a double take! I love the sponge she is using in the forth panel and the teabag string hanging out of “the bathtub “ cracks me up!

I think we know who the leader of the Break All the Things Wrecking Ball Gang might be. Still, I think he’s innocent of this crime.

OT: when using my I Pad for BCN my avatar is present ( on Firefox) but on my computer, since they changed the Go Comics format my avatar does not show. I am only supposed to submit an impossibly small gif image which I do not have. I also use Firefox on my computer to view Go Comics. Any suggestions as to how I could find a small gif? I have an I Mac so I can’ download anything.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

    At the Tea Springs Spa

Attendant: Ms Ta-Natash, we have a message for you.

Ta-Natash: Oh bother. Just when I was starting to relax.

: Ta-Natash, the Queen, Baba-Stet, and just about everyone else have been looking for you (stop) What should we tell them?(stop)Signed, Alice-Ata

    Ta-Natash: Wonder what that’s about?

Attendant: Will there be a reply?

Ta-Natash: Yes. Tell them I’ll be back shortly. No use wasting a perfectly good tea bath.

Later that evening at the palace

Beatrixia: It looks like Ta-Natash is in the clear. She’s been at Tea Springs Spa all this time.

    Elvis-Anum How do you know?

Beatrixia: Alice-Ata said the Papyrus Cat has just come by.

Elvis-Anum: When will everyone realize? There is no Papyrus Cat!

Just checked: camomile tea is supposed to lighten hair color. Perhaps that is what Natasha is bathing in. I wonder if the Woman keeps any camomile tea bags around the apartment…

Splish, splash, I was soakin’ in my bath

Long about a Wednesday night, yeah

A rub dub, just relaxin’ in my tub

    Thinkin’ everythin’ was all right

Well, I steeped in that tub

I put my feet on the rim

Caressed in tea water in a cup

    Filled to the brim

    And then a-splish, splash

    Goldie ruined my bath

Well, how was I to know

She thinks I’ve really done them wrong?

    I was a-splishin’ and a-splashin’

    Reelin’ with the feelin’

    Movin’ and a-groovin’

    Rockin’ and eye-rollin’, yeah, yeah

Bing, bang, while I may be in a gang

I got no part in this whole shebang, yeah

Flip, flop, she thinks I am a thug

Well, me and that infernal Jules bug

    Splish, splash, yeah

    [Bobby Darin / Jean Murray]

This actually made me think of a character of mine, a thief who is very offended when someone accuses him of being involved in a kidnapping. I’m so amused.

But … after rereading Natasha’s statements, she never actually denies breaking it. She could have been trying to steal Short N Stout and he was accidentally broken.

Maybe it was The Man and he’s going to sheepishly apologize, new owl vase in hand. That would definitely exonerate Lupin!

Nobody has a specific motive for breaking the vase. On comedic grounds, I’m betting on the Man.

Natasha knows more than she is saying.

I need to know if this is a Hard-Boiled or cozy mystery? Should we take Natasha downtown, put her under the lights and sweat a confession or should we just retire to the drawing room?

All good points, but the detail both she and Goldie are seemingly overlooking is that none of this rules out the possibility that it was accidentally and unintentionally broken still.

Suspect assumption 1: Vase was not broken by accident. Lack of utility or profit is not an alibi.

    Today is:

Baseball Fans Day —I have an antipathy for baseball that began when I was a child, and games always pre-empted the cartoon shows I wanted to watch. Then there was a disastrous time in little league, when I learned to hate many of the adults involved. I tried to maintain an interest, and learned to throw a ball (or anything else) with great accuracy. What finally did it was attending a Cubs game. Physically miserable for hours, and bored out of my mind—sitting around for hours, watching grown men spit and scratch. As a matter of fact, I knew no adult men who could watch a baseball game on TV and not fall asleep—even the uncle who played semi-pro. I cannot understand other’s excitement and passion for the game. Now cricket, that’s supposed to be boring, but the complexity of the rules keeps you awake—or that’s my understanding. ;^)

National Middle Child Day — “Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.” That pretty much sums up being a middle child. Never mind the “syndrome,” being in the middle has … tactical advantages …

National Vinyl Record Day —This is the day Thomas Edison supposedly invented the phonograph, though I hesitate to give that bandit too much credit. He was a businessman first, an engineer and scientist second. Regardless of who did the actual work, it has been and continues to be a boon to humankind. “Wo-oh-hooooo listen to the music …” =^D

National Julienne Fries Day —The “Proper” name for “French fries.” The technique of julienne cutting is apparently a French invention, sometimes called “frenching.” (Hmmm… NOT when I was in high school!) Hence, “French fries.” Hot grease, carbs, and salt—what’s not to like? (Note for our British representatives: you apparently refer to them as “chips,” similar to the way you call “cookies,” “bisquits.”) Ah, English, the only language with a speech impediment built in!

And yes, I do want fries with that …

What good is a broken vase? Would depend on what it’s made out of. Porcelain, forget it. Now if it were made of copper or silver, there’s value there.
