Sarcasm is a genetic trait.

I laughed so hard at this one that I pulled a muscle.

This strip was always one of my favorites :)

I note that he even brushed his hair to get into character.

This is one of the best ones! Mom’s reaction there is one of the best in C&H!

When I was a Boy Scout, we used to tell the younger boys that doing something unpleasant or hard “will put hair on your chest.” But the best reactions I’ve ever gotten to that line have come from my nieces and grandnieces.

That was amazingly funny when it first came out and still is today. Love how Calvin even neatly parted his hair. I’ve always wondered if Calvin presented that in a monotone voice such as Steven Wright or Ben Stein when he is in character such as the teacher in “Ferris Bueller”.

He learned it at his father’s knee, or some other low joint.

Loving Mum’s reaction, superbly drawn too, incidently, without his glasses Dad looks like a shaven Captain Haddock from “TinTin”…..

Both of our daughters are fluent in sarcasm. It doesn’t help that it’s both mine and my husband’s original language. (Seriously, my tone of voice naturally sounds sarcastic! There’s really nothing I can do about that.)

Oh, he’ll take a turn imitating YOU, mom. You can count on it, but… you won’t find it QUITE so funny…

My son has three daughters. One day he had to interrupt a phone call he had with me an my wife to stop the middle daughter from going up the steps. There was nothing wrong with this except she was doing it on the outside of the railing.

It’s the fulfillment of every parent’s dream. He got at least one kid who turned out to be like him. “Sean don’t go in the rice paddy. Sean, get down off that elephant.” were phrases I can recall yelling at him.

In the back of his mind, Dad is thinking..Success!

This is one of my Top 10 C&H strips – Mom just flat lost it at the end…

I thought I had seen most of the Calvin strips. This is the first time on this one. Hilarious.

The snow goons strips take the all-time prize for comics.

Without his glasses, Dad looks like a “Little Orphan Annie” character.

The apple did not fall so far from the tree after all. Though the worm in it is a bit disturbing.

You would think this would tell Dad that he’s been using that “building character” excuse way too often!

Hairs neatly combed, bespectacle Calvin, mom’s histrionics and the sarcasm surrounding this strip is priceless.

Dad baffles Calvin so often, it’s good to see him get his comeuppance. now and then.

This has always been one of my favorite C&H ’toons. Maybe because I saw a cousin pull this exact thing on her father. They were both fans of the strip and she also did the dad survey on him a few times.

I loved Mom’s reaction, even though her over the top convulsive reaction was so out of character. I’ve never so much as seen a glimmer of a smile from her.

This one is one of my all-time favorite “C&H” strips, like it is for others here. I can just hear Calvin in panel 3 delivering the line to his mom and dad. Maybe those glasses are doing him some good!
