Only 26 days til Christmas….Puck and Lupin are sure happy about it!

I’m with Elvis on this one. Christmas has largely lost its magic for me. :’(

I’m with Elvis, too. And, he doesn’t look like he’s happily napping. He looks like he’s miffed at something.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum? It must be pirate’s Christmas!

If that is the face you make while “happily napping”, I’d hate to see what angrily napping looks like.

I brought the pieces of my Christmas village upstairs earlier today. I cleared off the top of the piano. Now I just need to start putting them all in their places.

It’s the start of a whole new Christmas special, and I can’t wait to see what it becomes!

For all of us who lost the Charm of Christmas… I wish I could help. Best suggestion – help someone else get a little magic in their life. Watch for that twinkle of joy when you do. Sadly… some of us can’t even do that much. Being too poor… the world is grey and slowly feeling darker. I hope, every day, that next year will be better.

From Lupin’s position and expression, I suspect Christmastown is doomed.

This year we are giving donations to favorite charities in honor of family and friends. And, the local no-kill who found the love of our life. He was a very special Christmas present who came a bit early – on Pearl Harbor Day.

So “happily napping” for Elvis involves a frown and twitchy tail?

With that grumpy sleeping face, Elvis doesn’t look like he’s happily napping.

Happily napping? Look like your dreams weren’t terribly “happy.”

I stayed up until 1 am! Advantage: there are a reasonable number of comments to read, not 100s. Disadvantage: nobody has yet explained the joke, which I don’t get (what is the point of November 30). Advantage: I might be first to comment on any toe beans, BoCH, BoCC, or RMiTB [Robber Mouse in Tissue Box, obvies]. Disadvantage: I found none of those in today’s strip. Sigh. Well, it’s way past time to go to sleep holding my kitty Dewey in my arms.

There’s a house in our neighborhood that sets up their garage with an elaborate Christmas village every year, and people are free to come look. It’s really impressive!

We got Elvis Puffs Out today! Now we just need to read them.. :)

What is the point of November 30th?! Enquiring minds want to know!

Actually, November 30 is St Andrew’s Day. He’s the patron saint of Scotland, so it’s sort of the equivalent of St Patrick’s Day only with a lot less attention paid to it. I’ll be celebrating it myself with haggis for dinner and whisky cake.

Elvis doesn’t look like he is happily napping

Two years ago had been thinking about downsizing the whole thing when health problems coincided with a new young cat for whom the word climber was invented. Gave all the trees, yep plural, and most ornaments away. Now we have a single wreath decorated with just a few sentimental ornaments and battery operated, with timer, mini lights hung high on one side of the patio doors. Plus one outside door hanger. Much simpler. Loved the big trees but am happy they are now with young families who did not have trees.

Elvis-Anum: What happened? Just last Thursday we were all decorated for the Gratitude Feast and now there’s all these little chariot trains and bright candles!

Beatrixia: It’s time to go from the Season of Gratitude to the Season of Celebration and Giving. Just look at this sign post Thomosis decorated with candles.

Elvis-Anum: I would never have guessed it wasn’t a real tree from the mountains.

Beatrixia: Have you decided what you want as a gift this year?

Elvis-Anum: I’m still trying to figure out what to do with my leftovers.

Puckmosis: Hi, guys! Are you gonna go to shop at the marketplace today?

Beatrixia: Yeah, let’s go this afternoon. I also want to order some gifts from Afar.

Puckmosis: Sounds good. It looks like the Papyrus Cat is going to be busy this year.

Elvis-Anum: When will they ever learn?

The problem is that Christmas has gotten too much. They start in October now. The music is constant (and it’s the same songs every year, and not all of them are even good songs). The decorations and ads hawk everything in the universe, loudly and continuously, and it takes up one-sixth of the year. The entertainment industry calls this “over-exposure.” The rest of us call it “burn out.”

It’’s—almost—the season of the Tommybaum!!

December Eve.

I did my outdoor decorating yesterday before the rain and while the temperature was still in the upper 50s—today, temps are steadily falling through the 40s and the rain will be changing to snow. This decorating consists of winding tinsel around the (non-functioning) “carriage lamp” pole and topping that off with a big bow. This year I went big with three strands of tinsel—green, red and silver—and a red-and-green striped bow. Love getting my deco materials from the dollar store—on New Year’s Day, easy cleanup, just rip and toss. Although some years they don’t quite last that long… ; )

Computer Security Day: Apropos of so-called “Cyber Monday.” I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave. Have you forgotten your password again?

National Mousse Day: No, this is not in honor of a Quebecois moose. It’s about the food, or the hair styling preparation. No one has specified which, so do one or the other, or even both, but don’t get them confused. You could also give your favorite furperson a catnip mousse …

National Mason Jar Day: As an expert in masonry construction, I can definitively say that masons have no particular need for jars, and on the occasions they do, are content with any glass vessel that will meet the immediate need. On the occasion that a mason needs preserving, they prefer to be entombed in a masonry construction, with no need for a specific jar, canoptic or otherwise. There is a theory that mason jars were originally intended to keep a lid on conspiracies, but this is disclaimed by the Illuminati. I’d better can it, or they will be coming for me …

Happily? napping

This is a very accurate depiction of the Christmas season.

As I was reading these comments my Christmas tree decided it was tired and wanted to lie down for a nap. Unless PC is really good at the innocent act, I think Mac might have helped it out. I didn’t have any ornaments on it yet, just some strings of beads that I cut and hang like icicles. I put it up Friday so it did take 3 days for someone to knock it over.

How does “pre-taped” differ from “taped”?

Brrrrr…the power just came back on after being out for 90 minutes. Fortunately the house didn’t get below 67°.

We are trying, as always, to teach our students to be kind to everyone. We talked about what made each person happy and what was important to them. When the kids asked what made me happy, the teacher said he could tell them. He got it all correct too, but then he mentioned my Christmas trees. I’m hard pressed for storage space, so I don’t. He told the kids that I have Jack-o-lanterns in my living room all year round and three Christmas trees. I had to correct him then because last year I also made a Tommybaum. I keep the trees up all year because I like pretty things. All artificial and small, so why not? Then I told them the awful truth. I don’t even celebrate Christmas. Their eyes got huge and their jaws dropped. They asked why I had the trees so I told them that they are bright and cheerful and beautiful so why shouldn’t I enjoy them anytime I want? They were still a bit confused (minds blown) but they haven’t asked me anything else about it.
