Why is Puddles making an off color remark?

I can understand Luann getting into a grey area.

When does a psychologist over analyze life?

When does fun become tedium? For Luann, it’s panel 3; but for me it was early into panel 2, when I realized Evans was going to do the whole comic strip based on these questions.

Some of those are more absolute than others.

Luann discovered that one person’s fun becomes another person’s obsession. It is a great question that has as much to do with perception as reality. It’s like what the snail said when the turtle gave her a ride on his shell…”hey turtle, not so fast!”

Ask me no questions and I tell you no more questions.

When does a baby become a child? The present becomes the past tomorrow!

I’m willing to let most of those go, but tell me: when does food become chyme?

Looks like Bernice is at foot of the future but it’s kicking her up the past!

Interesting – last week, the strip was primarily in black due to the power outage. Today, I noticed that all the shadows where Luann and Bernie are walking, including Puddle’s are white.

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

“When does dusk become night?” There are actually three answers to that, and the correct one depends on whether you’re talking about the end of civil, nautical, or astronomical twilight.

The answer is “sometime”.

If a pond becomes a lake or visa versa, how difficult is it to rename it? Can it be renamed or is it to be known as “Lake Such-n-such” even if it were to dry up to be no more than a puddle? And what of swamps versus marshes? Hmmm?

Well, now I’ve got Heart’s “Dog and Butterfly” stuck in my head.

42! The answer to all of those questions is 42!

To much questions and no answers. But Luann’s final question is the most dramatic of all. At least Puddles is happy.

Aah some of life’s eternal questions. Why does the shark swim forever in the moonlight? Why are we here?

Take a geology course, ladies.

Here is a starter: the main difference between a pond and a lake is depth. Because of its greater depth light does not reach the full bottom of a lake (unlike a pond) and the water temperature is layered rather than being very similar at different depths.

It just hit me that Tiffany took a bio course and can probably answer the tadpole question for Bernice. Did you ever expect that to happen?

Bernice has way too narrow a focus. As she tries to become very educated in just a little she is becoming ignorant in a lot. She might find life opening up if she studies some actual science, some critical analysis/philosophy, and other areas of inquiry.

When does a puddle become a pond is an incredibly stupid question. Luann the airhead trying to be a philosopher is too funny! It’s also an excellent example of how young people today have zero common sense. They spend time in these types of ambiguous thought processes that serve no purpose whatsoever. If I heard my son say something like that I would slap him upside the head.

Some of those questions have definite answers.

So then what IS the answer to the first question? Or was Luann going to say a stupid joke?

Ponds aren’t usually just caused by rain (or a temporary overflow like water on a sea wall path). Is your hypothetical puddle spring fed (like Walden puddle in Doonesbury?). It might have a chance of becoming a pond.

I think in order to be a pond it has to have a connection to the aquifer, so that it’s a semi-permanent body of water maintained by ground water.

Nice poetic, antonymic talk between two friends on a Sunday strip in Luannverse. With Puddles having a nice doggie punch line after the people one voiced by Luann. Bet it will be quite less calm tomorrow’s arc.

If you ask me, and no one did, a puddle becomes a pond when it sticks around for a few months. Longevity is the answer.

When does crazy become insane?…….

There are actually criteria for each of the above questions regarding water, tadpoles, and dusk to dawn. I don’t know the site offhand but reading about what constitutes a lake/pond/sea/ocean and stream/creek/river was quite fascinating. Ok, I am a nerd.

I wonder what Bernice learned in school all these years.

I sense a breakthrough by Luann here. She finally realizes what many of us have already known for a long time, that Bernie is the very essence of tedium.

As Fry put it (as I recollect it offhand), tedi-um, tedi-um, the ceremonial beating of the humdrum….

This is exactly why a Jack and Bernice relationship won’t happen. I feel like we’ve all been saddled with Bernice’s dullness.
