My father got vaccinated and all it took was for him to be 80+ years old with a serious heart condition.

Spouse and I are in our 70s with no obvious underlying conditions. The state folks keep changing the system on the fly, so we know we’ll be allowed to get one as of January 28. No, wait, make that February 7th. No, wait, make that February 15… no wait, make that sometime after February 7th, but we aren’t going to say how LONG after. No wait, now it’s probably before the end of March. No wait…

The operative word, quite apparently is “wait”.

And I’m 71 with three underlying conditions, but I went into allergic shock over a flu vaccine. So I’ve been advised to avoid the vaccine. Guess I live what’s left of my life wearing masks…

Another reminder that there was NO Trump plan.

Fortunately, we don’t know if he would have sabotaged administration of the vaccines like he did the attempted responses to the pandemic.

    .

Maybe they would have been sold to highest bidders, with the profits going to the crime family.

Got my first jab last Tuesday, so by March, one year to the day, I’ll be (mostly) out of house arrest.

I’m sufficiently of age & have the requite handful of co-morbitities, but it was 10% pluck, 90% luck. I made ‘em promise me that it wouldn’t make me (any more) autistic, and I’m really not too worried about Bill Gates tracking me. Smartphones & Facebook already do a great job of that…

My state, Georgia, thanks to its dysfunctional state system, has everyone playing the phone lottery. Takes 100, 200, or more redials to get through, if you’re lucky. I finally got to a human being on Friday who told me they weren’t making appointments until they got their next shipment of vaccines which would be sometime next week. It’s TFU.

Bit premature – just saw an article yesterday that there are still bureaucratic roadblocks for vaccines to get to minority communities.

When people are fully vaccinated (a week or two after the second dose), but most others aren’t yet, their lives probably shouldn’t change very much, experts say. It will most likely be safer for them to do things like visit the grocery store or the post office. People who work in places that leave them highly exposed will significantly decrease their risk — which is why frontline workers are among the first to be eligible for the vaccine. But vaccinated people should still wear masks and avoid large groups and indoor gatherings when possible.

Qualifying to be vaccinated and finding an appointment to GET vaccinated are not the same. I qualify and I am currently on three waiting lists. I have been on them for three weeks! There are no vaccines available, so I wait. And wait . . .

When I helped my mother get the vaccine, I was amazed at how simple it was, especially in NYC. There are so many horror stories in the news. But the hardest thing about getting the shot was the cab ride to the health center.

My mom has been vaccinated and is 99 living in a facility in St Louis which has had a few outbreaks. They are also tested twice a week. My brothers are in their 70s and have been vaccinated and one goes to the VA in St Louis while the other waited in a very long line in Florida. My husband was vaccinated very soon after it came out since he is an MD at 2 different hospitals in KCMO. I have held my breath every time he went to work for the last several months. I’m 61 and in good health so I will be patient and careful. My daughter is 23 and has moderate asthma and otherwise good health and she is being very careful. None of the people I know have had side effects other than a sore arm for about 24 hours.

In my county, they are ignoring the CDC guidelines and requiring age 75, and give no consideration to health markers. Given that they also apparently have no doses available anyway, I’ve got my fingers crossed for late spring…2022.

I got my immunity the “down home” way — contracting the virus from The Bride, who got it from her chiropractor’s office. The receptionist had his mask hanging off his ear. People in the waiting room without masks. That was her last visit.

Daily dose of vitamin D may have resulted in mild cases for us. Doc said the vaccine will give us a LOT more antibodies than the virus, so we’re not in a big hurry. You people can go ahead of us.

Don’t see any comments about the idiots who caused the vax center at Dodger Stadium to close down for several hours as people had already been waiting for hours.

The rock and hard place for those in line. If it became a mob vs mob then the insane would have a high chance of infecting the sane.

I’m an Uber driver, I follow the rules and wear a mask, noone gets in without one.. had a scare last week and was deactivated for a while, someone came in with Covid19.. got my test, and thankfully tested negative. I’m back to driving again but now I have a plastic screen up between me and my riders. Glad to be working.

One key thing to remember is that being vaccinated will not prevent you from getting CV19, but it will make a huge difference in your body’s response if you do get. The anti-bodies in your system will identify and attack it quickly once they have reached their maximum level. You can still get sick, but the odds of dying are greatly reduced. That is reason enough for me.

My wife is a Nurse and has been fully vaccinated. So has my Brother who works for a Hospital from his home and they’re both 3 years younger than me. Even my stepson at 24 yo who works at a retirement home is fully vaccinated. None had the virus and I got it early last year. I’ll be lucky if I get vaxxed before Summer

If you are sleeping well then don’t read this. Another epidemiologist doing an interview stated that his decades of experience leads him to believe that in 6-14 weeks the mutant strain is going to make things far worse than they have been to date. Oh joy!

It’s like living in a horror movie. Let’s all hide behind the rack of chainsaws in the garage.

Please do as well so I, and the rest of my food-chain professionals, can keep food and essentials in your home.

Good news, BD – if you’re over 65 (and since you were in Nam, you probably are), and get your healthcare through the VA – we’re having another walk-in clinic this Saturday.
